Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago my wife was driving her mom's G6 during a snow storm. She caught the shoulder and got sucked into a snowbank at highway speed. Surprisingly there wasn't any damage to the car with the exception of the heat shield that appears to be directly beneath the gear selector lever. It was rattling around in there so I just pulled it out. I didn't think much of it as I've removed a few heat shields from various cars I've owned over the years. However I was talking with a mechanic and he advised I should at least find out if that heat shield is covering anything important - like gas lines! Does anyone know if that heat shield is protecting anything critical - or is it just there to stop my feet from getting too warm in the summer?

Thanks in advance,
