Heater Box removal

I am in need of some help with my heater in my 2007 G6. The other day it started blowing cold air and some little plastic piece fell out of the back of the center console area. I took it to the dealership and they said that the mode door and the actuator need to be replaced at the cost of over $1000! It isn't covered by my warranty and I really need a heater before winter.

So here is my question, I have found a great tutorial on how to take the dash off to replace the stereo, but I am wondering if there are any tutorials/pictures/manuals on where the heater box is and how to change out the actuator.

Any help/advice/guidance would be appreciated!

From what I've heard, they almost build the car around the darn thing. If you get one of the manuals from Helm, you should be able to do it, but it'll be treacherous.
yes i agree, its a pain changing or replacing it, prepare yourself for a long and complicated project. some cars resort to removing the entire dash to locate the heater box cover.
