Any G6 convertible users, OR people who know about G6 convertibles, could you please help?
Bought our G6 three years ago.Basically like the car a lot, 4 seats hardtop, fwd, just the car we wanted for our mid-Atlantic area. We were somewhat concerned about buying a car with a new complicated retracting system (old rule of thumb was Never BUY FIRST YEAR model of anything because of possible bugs/problems with system), but bought it any way. First year there was a minor probelm with top. It took a week to fix but okay (knocking on wood)
BUT, Last year putting top down there was a huge CRACK:eek: We took it to car dealer took 2-3 weeks to fix. (Of course in summer, just when we wanted to use it). Went on our way
THEN Friday (4/24 just before 3 year warranty went out). I HAPPENED AGAIN Pieces cracking, snapping etc.
SO VERY GUN SHY.
MY QUESTION IS THIS PROBLEM COMMON WITH THAT YEAR, OR IS MY CAR JUST A BAD LUCK STORY?

They didnt have any G6 convertibles in 2005. Soo you do indeed have a problem!!! lol

I dont think I have read any issues that would lead me to believe there are
issues but....when you see that thing go up and down I just cringe at how complicated it is. All I can think of is EXTENDED WARRANTY FTW!! lol
Okay, Sorry it is an 06G6. Don't know if too late for an extended warranty, but if they offer it..I'm Buying. Thanks
i've had my 06 vert for almost a year, and i've had no problems and i live in new england. and when i bought thecar it had only one owner b4 me and he took care of it better than pooners takes care of his car, and the guy didnt have any problems with the top.

i havent heard any stories on vert top problems, ur is the 1st. so i'm gonaa sya maybe ur car jus has defect, or it's evil and doesnt like u :p

but either way, extended warrenty!:D
I recently had the very same problem! I was trying to put my hardtop up and heard the most awful cracking and it stopped in midstream. It is not drivable and am waiting to hear what dealership has to say....not happy at all with this!
