5022 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Lampoon
I'm a girl in upstate NY who knows not a thing about doing appearance mods
But I really want them done

I have a 2005 g6 gt
It's sunburnt orange
With black interior

What can I do to make it look nicer?
*keep in mind I have to do it*
I saw some stuff on here about
Eyelids ?
Adding more chrome
Led lisence plate
Painting mirrors
Soured led tail lights

So can someone break this down & tell me what I need & how I'm doing it
& what I should do to make it look best?

* other ideas are appreciated!!

Thanks so much!! :D

I almost bought an orange one.....but in 05 they didnt make them with the GT options.

Sooo I got a Blue one!

Do you have tint?? That would be my first modification.
The cheapest and easiest thing you can do is debadge it. The easiest way to do this is with fishing line and adhesive remover.
You should probably take one thing at a time...If you look around the members rides section, and see things you like we will be more than happy walk you through it or point you in the right direction. I second the tint thats the first thing i did. and debadging is easy and makes your car look cleaner.
First thing you should do is swap out the motor;) kidding. I agree with the debadging if you like that look. If you want ideas to do yourself then I wouldnt start with tint b/c it can get difficult. I would start with some accents like the trim wether you want more chrome or the chrome blacked out, like around the window some peeps have blacked out the lower trim, but i added crome to the top half. Its really simple to apply as long as the surface is clean. That could be a start but def look around & ask questions
WOOO upstate!! first off where abouts im in syracuse. second debadging is easy take your hair dryer outside and heat up whatever you wanna take off and use fishing line to "scrape" them off (won't hurt your car one bit). tint would be sick just go to a shop or have it done professionally so its not poo poo.

Agreed...debadge first! And clay bar/wax the area after too

Agreed x100000
Get it done by a pro, most will offer a warranty too so if it does start to bubble or peel you can have it fixed free
Wow thanks for all the responses :)

I'm In Saratoga by the way

2005 has the GT options, I have a 2005 g6 GT

I already have tint on my windows so that already has been done. I am thinking about making it darker thoug

So what should I take off of it?
& I deff wanna add more chrome

So where do I start :)

Thanks everyone !! :)

I'm gonna jump in here and warn against debadging, only because your car is around 6 years old and there has been plenty of time for the paint to fade due to sun and other atmospheric exposure. If you debadged now there is a pretty good chance that you will have the shadow image of the badges that will show. Of course, you might like that look, soooo.... there are several threads on the board with debadging instructions. The badges are held on with double-sided adhesive tape which is easier to remove if you get the adhesive warm by heating up the badges with a hair dryer.

I don't wanna debadge it. I personally like them on

I think I'm gonna add more chrome to start
check out G6Lover's car....easy way to add some chrome to the lower grille. I think he bought it at local autoparts store.

How do I do it? What do I look for at the auto store? & what's a price range?

Thankyou sooo much!!
Im pretty sure he just used chrome edge molding, they come in rolls and run from about 10 to 20 bucks, not sure the size but heres an example http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Exterior/Edge-Molding-Rolls/_/N-25tc

After I saw this post I realized my car already has chrome there.
I think I wanna door it around my doors
@x0littleone0xx-i would color match the eyelids then chrome upper door molding then piano black b-pillars then color match overlays ... all of those are rather inexpensive quick and stick on so super easy :D
Oops...yes. I meant I couldnt find one with a GT option.
Not that ANYONE else couldnt get one. I couldnt find anything right so
I ordered mine. Still love that orange though. They are VERY rare down here in Texas.

Is it tinted?? That was my first upgrade.
