hey all,

hows it going? i just got a 2006 pontiac g6 gt coupe. pretty nice i must say. just wondering one thing though, it has 201HP powered by a 3.5L v6 engine. why is it a 3.5L engine with only 201HP? other cars generally with a 3.5L engine provides atleast 250+ HP. in any case, is 201HP enough for that car?

Thanks :)

A 3.5 pushrod V6 with 201 hp is not too bad. Just a few years back, multi-valve OHC engine were producing this kind of horsepower. Today they are higher so that makes your pushrod V6 "seem" less powerful. Of course the more hp the better but in real life, the G6's V6 is adequate.

The real problem hindering the G6's performance potential is not its engine, it's the transmission. The 4-speed auto GM uses is ancient and inadequate. If your V6 is mated to a 6-speed instead of a 4, 201 hp is enough to make the G6 compete with the other cars in its class.
