might have to do a key relearn. Do a search and it'll tell you how. I don't remember exactly how to do it.
I searched it and says 10 min on then off then 10 min on then off then ten min on then off, then it will start. But I have done this 50 times and it’s not working. I didn’t know if the off time might Mayer or not? Can’t find anywhere saying how long off.

Found the instructions.

Basic key relearn procedure:

- Insert the key and turn the ignition on. Do not attempt to start the vehicle.

- Bump the starter over by rotating the ignition key to Crank, but do not start the vehicle. Allow key to return to the Run position.
Note the security indicator lamp.It will remain on for approximately 8 to 15 minutes. This is the first password communication stage.

- When the security indicator lamp turns off, turn the ignition key to the Off position. Wait 10 seconds.

-Turn the ignition key to the Run position. Note the security indicator lamp. It may flash for a few seconds, then turn on solid. It will remain on for approximately 8 to 15 minutes. This is the second password communication stage.

-When the security indicator lamp turns off, turn the ignition key to the Off position. Wait 10 seconds.

-Turn the ignition key to the Run position. Note the security indicator lamp. It may flash for a few seconds, then turn on solid. It will remain on for approximately 8 to 15 minutes. This is the third password communication stage.

- When the security indicator lamp turns off, turn the ignition key to the Off position. Wait 30 seconds.

- Turn the ignition key to the Run position, pause momentarily, then turn the key to the Crank position. If the engine starts and runs normally, the VTD Relearn procedure is complete

Make sure that the blank you had cut is a transponder key. They usually have a + in a circle embossed on them. No transponder = nothing to sense or relearn :)
