i have a 2007 g6 gt sedan and i want to replace the rear speakers on it. i have read that to replace the rear speakers you have to remove basically everything in the back of the car including the seats. is this true for the sedan? if not what do i need to do to replace them?

are you serious

so, thanks for providing the link to the pdf providing a detailed stereo replacement instructions.
... but is this saying that in order to replace my rear 6x9 speakers i'm going to have to remove the rear seats & backing to remove the rear shelving first?! now i see why pontiac engineers are out of a job. why wouldn't you just provide access to the screws after removing the stereo protecting cover?
i bought the 'premium sound system' in my g6 gtp coupe and 1 of the rear speakers has blown (now 7 years old) when the base was a little over half way and the volume was near max (pathetic).
ps. i learned the hard way before searching 'the net' and tried prying the stereo protecting cover using a flat head and broke all of the connections. unfortunately, i still can't access the speaker screws. i'm considering using a razor to cut the shelving, hoping i'd be able to glue it back in place. ghetto, i know. but the car has ~ 130,000 miles on it now.

fyi, after looking into buying after market rear speakers i decided to go ahead and buy oem because of simplicity and cost ~ $15
ACDelco 25911068 Rear Passenger Side Radio Speaker Assembly <-- can be found on amazon

UPDATE (9/28/2013) the speaker that i mentioned above only has 2 pins and the premium sound system (monsoon) requires 4 pins. i plan to buy a replacement speaker (with 4 pins) from the GM dealership for ~ $85 and having an audio store install it for ~ $75.
