I don't know where you live But a dyno tuner can solve your problem,

Go here(link below), find you nearest shop, call them and ask about a custom tune for your car. Should run from 300-700$, Well worth it IMHO, Diablo sport tuners, HP tuners, And other pre tunes are good base lines But usually have your car running vary rich for safety. But a Dyno tune can be done real time, and perfectly dial in your car and make sure its done right with no other issues, also many place offer a lifetime free service i.e. free re-tunes and such.

Now I'm not trying to advertise here this is simply a link to find YOU A LOCAL DYNO TUNERE/SPEED SHOP, use your judgment and research before letting anyone work on your car.

You will find they do not support the G6 platform.
There are only 3, in my 5 yrs of experience with this car, that
do tunes for the G6.

Westers is up in Canada, Vector and the last is Chris White.

They will need your car to tune it. HPTuners does not support it. Chris wrote the tune for Vector so go to the source. He is on here at GTPPrix. Contact him and take your car to him with lots of cash and Ill bet he would be glad to help you.

No one else does it. Do like MJ says and go to your local places like that and listen to them laugh at you. Try it and if they say they will then post up when they do because not only will they get no help from the software people (its now unsupported remember) so they will be navigating tretcherous ground blind. I recommend you have the car tuned by people with experience tuning the G6.

I wish you luck as once people find the only way to tune it is HP and that HP doesnt support the G6 anymore then your screwed outside of the 3 who have navigated these waters back when it was supported.

Chris is also the least expensive but you will have to take him your car. Lots of time, expense and quite a PITA when you can go turbo a different car for 1/2 the hastle.

Hense....no turbo for the G6.

Dont believe me?? Go to the source and ask them: http://www.hptuners.com/forum/

I already did and Im sharing that knowledge with you now free of charge.
Why would they laugh? Why would they be guessing? That is what the dyno is for.....HOw do you think Chris an others did it? the only difference is that they have mad generic pretty safe tune that they can than send to everyone.

I have had my car tuned, in fact i have had all my cars tuned..... I don't see how you can dismiss something without even looking into it....
You still sound s a Lil negative on the idea....

Oh yeah....MY COLOR!! :p
See less See more
I'm take the flip side of that, What if it's a company who has done so many turbo cars it's not even funny...... And there primary focus is turbo vehicles?.

I happen to have said company vary near to me lol...... They did an excellent job.

But here is my other thing taking what you just said what makes you qualified to use an hp tuner or something similar? Something you have never done? wouldn't you trust someone that does it for a living more than yourself? Now I'm a do it your self, but somethings are left to the pros especially when the tools they use cost 10k +.
Ok so I apologize in advance if this isn't the way to do it but I just joined the site and I guess I’m as slow as opine but I can't seem to figure out how to start a new topic.

Any way this kinda relates I have a 08 3.5 G6 GT coupe stock except for tint.
I really want to toss some mods on but as of yet can't seem to find any thing to major. I was told by a friend that the old Grand Am 3.5l had a supercharger option. Does any body know if this would bolt on the G6 3.5?

I was thinking that since the G6 replaced the Grand Am it could be a good possibility

Ciao
D
Wrong engine, superchargers were on the 3800 series engine, and wrong car too grand am= for the ladies Grand prix= for the hot ladies and real men your friend just flat out lied to you lol trust me if it was the same engine we would have a lot less issues
Fair enough I never really liked him any way. haha Ok so to address an issue I've had with my G6 and I wonder if any body else has this problem... my stock routers on both of my G6's 06 and 08 have needed to be turned by 22k I ended up just switchin them out the second time they started to studder. anyone else have that same issue
WTH is a router??
Sorry Rotor
LoL i was just confused is all...

my stock ROTOR's on both of my G6's 06 and 08 have needed to be turned by 22k I ended up just switchin them out the second time they started to studder. anyone else have that same issueDon't get them turned you realy can't nowadays just swap the rotors with the pads it's not that much more than just getting them turned
Yeah that's exactly what I did. GM does a free one time turn and then that's it what the hell I took the free turn then after that when they started to warp again I just changed them out for ceramic

ok so next question WHERE the HELL!! can i find rims this bolt pattern on the G6 is a pain only the colbalt is the other car that has the same pattern so I was told by my dealer and so far the choice I have for rims is VERY slim like 5 types all look like they belong on a van
You hang around a bunch of liars LOL go to discount tire or tire rack.com there are a ton for your vehicles.........
http://discounttiredirect.com/ :D

That's what I said, haha.

Dude, my grandma drives a Grand Prix GTP. LOL.

I can tell my rotors are starting to warp, I'm starting to feel that tapping when I'm driving/braking... I'm hoping I can put it off till the end of the month so I can buy all new rotors, tires, and rims...
HAHAHA She must be a couagr then :p

These guys are in Madison WI and they do G6 tunes on LZ9. $800 and takes 2 days. They also said they can turbo charge it. To too sure if they ever have done a turbo before but that is what they said.

They suggested a E85 tune to gain more power. Apparently they can install a switch to run 93 or E85.

I know that place.....
DO you live In IL OR WI? If you live in IL YOU BETTER TAKE YOUR ASS TO AMS PERFORMANCE
I live in norther IL north of Rockford.

Never heard of that place you mentioned.

Is there a problem with the one I had quoted?
Yeah for the amount money there charging I would go to the best, and if you used that link to find dyno shops you would have found them...

If you don't know who ams you must be living under a rock they are the small engine tuner in the Midwest, probably one of the best Evo tuners in the world.... and not only do they tune cars...They make parts for them

Yeha when i was looking at tuner i though about that palce on in Wi but umm yeah but they didn't have much of a track record.....

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/AMS-Time-Attack-EVO-X_204768.htm
Yeah :D that means POWA!!!!
Anyone know of someone that got a g6 tune at this place? How'd it turn out? I'm thinking of driving up there and getting it done.
No but they have tuned My 08 Impala,05Gto, and My 96 bretta gt. All were great. All had more power They know what there doing.

I think Hennessey Performance is closer to you in Texas(if you don't know who they are i will have to hang myself), unless you have an evo I wouldn't bother driving that far unless your just in the area
who?
Your asking for a track record and that was my point. There are only 3 who have extensive experience with the G6.
Is there a problem here? I thought we were done with this subject?

And all of the above compaines have a track record
oh well than LOL still try tell them what you had done they might be able squeeze out more powa LOL.

They got 203HP(at the wheels) and 207Ft.lbs of torque out of my impala (same engine as the g6 but has a bit more power)
That's the 3.9 you have too then sounds like. Yep, I'll see what they say in their response email.
No I have a 3.5.......

Stock specs 211 Hp and 216ft.lbs of torque

The car dynoed

187 H.p and 189t.lbs of torque untuned

I do have a custom made air intake installed and a down pipe back exhaust (no cat's)
I used a link from long time ago don't remember who posted it though. The one in WI is closer to me. I don't know any history about the place I mentioned or the one you did, I am just exploring options. All I know is what I am told by the shops. Kurgan Motors does tunes but they never performed one on a G6 or the LZ9 engine. He was not interested as he does big name racers and doesn't have time. The one I did mention said they have experience with the LZ9 platform...I agree with what Lampoon said that it's best to find some one with experience with the specific platform that one has.

All piston driven internal combustion engines basically work the same. However the parameters and efficiencies they attain and require are vastly different. Even the exact same engine will have slight differences and must be tuned accordingly. The off the shelf tunes for cars seem to be just that "off the shelf". No to say an off the shelf tune is bad as it is not but to get the optimum performance one must dyno an record performance for parameter changes. Just like getting a new high performance carb you would still have to tune it for that specific engine. If you swap it out to another with same engine it still would need to be tuned for optimum performance.

I don't have allot of time to do research as I am busy building and tuning 20,000 HP jet engines. So sorry if it seems I live under a rock.
That in a nut shell is what i was try ing to say.
And how is Madison WI closer than Arlington HeightsIL? I live up here with you just more east I'm about 25 min's from the border 35-40 mins from Arlington Heights and even if you live on the border ams is closer.

There is this one shop in Milwaukee too, i can't rember the name of the shop but i had a few friends in WI say they were good
Pardon my lack of knowledge on the topic, but WTH is a "level 10" transmission? Is that a term that they don't use in the import world, or am I just really not that familiar with trannys?

And I doubt it. This guy can't even spell "motor" correctly. How the hell is he financing this project? Did he have relatives die and he inherited their money? I don't think working at Burger King pays well enough to drop this kind of money...

So he rebuilt his "moter" - wait, why would you rebuild your motor? You need to insure that your car will start up? If you were rebuilding an engine, and if you were actually turboing your car, then yes - you'd need larger fuel injectors along with a ton of other stuff. Compression??
Yeah I'm seeing ghosts again

I want to get my hands on the heads/the whole damn top end form a 2010 v6 camaro I bet it would fit too....

Thats a good point do you leave the compression alone or drop it? i mean it's 8.7:1 or something like that.

As far as the trans, the amount he Say's 2900$ is about right thats making it bullet proof handle up wards of 600hp.... i have never heard the term (lvl ten tranie either welll ihave but in vidaya gamezzz)
Port the heads....... and get a Custom Ground cam.... I would rather have a monster lil Na motor than anything else. Knife edge the crank... I mean there tons of things you can to that motor that I can see justified price wise raise the compression...etc errr I'm going to school for this I'm so close to snatching my motor out LOL
