Yes it could be, but i think it could an expensive option too.
Could be a bad ground, or a poor connection on the starter. Are you sure aĺl the wire connectors are good and snug. If you do go with an new ignition switch you will need to make sure the anti theft deterrent is paired. Likely a visit to the dealer.
