Hello

Just wondering if anyone has their iPod hooked up to their OEM radio. If so what adaptor are you using, what functionality remains on the steering wheel controls?

I'm getting an iPod interface by AXXESS installed in my car at the end of next month, I'll let everyone know how it goes. It's gonna run about $230 installed.
i use monster cable adapter ... works fine ... haven't had a problem yet
Anyone know about this Axxass Ipod Interface? they make them for a G6, anyone know about the compatability? How they work?
It's a unit that ties into the factory stereo and allows you to control the ipod from the head unit. Put it in the glove box and forget it. You can also have an aux port so that a normal mp3 player can connect and be controlled from the mp3 player itself. The AXXESS unit will also charge the ipod. I've read on them and there were some minor issues but they seem to have cured them with a software upgrade some time ago. I'm having one installed in about 3 weeks for $230 and I'll post the results. It's a little pricey yes, but if it works as advertised it's alot cheaper than a new stereo and a direct connection like this means better sound quality than any FM modulator. I've wasted enough money on different modulators to pay for this unit, and if weren't for a $1,000 fine for littering in the state of Missouri I would have thrown every one of those @%&!?! things OUT THE WINDOW. To each his own.

Is there a specific OEM head unit you must have for it to work? I'm definitly considering it.
I don't believe so, but you can call Integration Solutions at 214-306-8031, or 972-242-0956 and they should be able to answer all your questions.
I was checking out their eBay store, and they've really got the hang of things. Every question you could possibly have is answered somewhere on their store site. Seems like a great bunch to deal with. I think I might have to order one myself. Sucks that I just spent 30 bucks on a sirius FM Direct Connect Modulator, cause now I'll be using the AUX input for sure.
Well I finally got back to the states and got my AXXESS iPod interface installed. So far it works like a champ. It's cool to be able to control from the head unit but I've found that plugging into the aux and controlling from the iPod itself is a little easier. The other port is there if I want it and I can use it as a charger. They charged me $212 total and for me it was worth every penny.
What they really need to invent is a cable that goes from the iPod dock connector to the mini aux. jack on the 2008's audio system that will also charge the iPod at the same time. I've been searching but have not found anything like that yet.
Until someone invents that....I'm using my Kensington Digital FM Transmitter to play my iPod music. Still the best transmitter on the market in my opinion.

Jeff:)
Let me make sure I read this right...you have an '08 with the aux port on the front of the stereo, but instead you're using an FM transmitter?? Am I taking crazy pills?

Do they make crazy pills?? LOL Stealth....until I can get a cable to use with my iPod I'll use the transmitter. I just hate the fact that I can't charge my iPod at the same time with the cable. I will use the Aux. jack though. Better sound!

Jeff
Of course they make crazy pills, where do you think ex-wives come from?
