Ipod MP3 jack loose, connection won't stay solid without me holding it!

There's nothing to tighten...it's just a male input jack and it goes in but very loosely. I don't know what the deal is. It's extremely strange.

I'm surprised more people haven't had this issue. Maybe it's only cuz the 09's were the first to have the Mp3 jack or something.

are you talking about the 1/8th" stereo jack input or the USB input jack? the 1/8th" aux in. was available as early as 2008, and i have the single disk AM/FM/XM with that jack in my 08 GT. the USB input didnt come until 09.5 i beleive. i havent had any problems with mine.

hmm. what brand of cable is it? and have you been using the cable for a while and this has just been a recent problem or has it been since you first tried the cable?

You could be right with your guess at the whole millimeter thing. There are two common size mini stereo jacks and plugs, 3.5 mm (1/8") and 2.5 mm (3/32"). If the plug doesn't offer any resistance at all when you insert it and falls out on its own, it's possible that it is 2.5mm. The AUX IN jack on the stereo is 3.5mm. Apple is one company known to use the smaller plug/jack on some of their iPods. Also some cel phone use the smaller set.

Otherwise it's possible that it is just a crappy cable. I have had no problems with using my AUX jack, but at the same time I rarely do use it.

I've got an Itouch and agree with you folks, it's got to be the 2,5 mm 'cause it's not a tight fit either on my radio

AUX issue

I actually bought a 3.5mm jack at wal mart last night, but it won't fit either. But the connector was about 9 bucks, so maybe price per quality is the issue. I'm taking it back today to get a better brand, hopefully it'll work.

update, I think something is wrong with my port, I tried a different brand, and a 2.5mm aux cable and neither worked, has anyone had this problem. With the 3.5mm It'll only go about halfway in.

There isn't something stuck in it is there? Only allowing it to go half way in.

That's weird man, I had issues when we first bought our 2008 G6 with the music fading in and out. Kept buying new cords and after a while it would do it again. Finally bought a real nice $20 one and it hasn't gone bad since.

But for it not going in all the way I haven't heard of.

Aux plug issue

It might be, could I take the stereo and find out or is there an easier to remove the obstruction.

Pulling the radio out won't help unless you want to take the radio itself apart. That is probably possible but an easier way may be getting a very strong vacuum over the jack. Really depends what's been jammed in there. If it's the tip of a male jack I can think of another possible thing to try but try the vacuum first. Gonna have to be a very strong vacuum.

i used to listen to my ipod all the time in my car, now it collects dust because a week after i bought my g6 it had the same problem. i have a cheapy cable but it has worked in about 20 other devices perfectly fine so i know its not the cable, but i have the same issue. it won't work unless you are applying pressure to the cord. still haven't figured it out.....

Hey :] not sure if you are still having this issue but, I thought that there was an issue with mine also because I had to hold the cord for it to work. I actually went to walmart and bought a Belkin brand mp3 aux cable that has the "steel - like" ends and that seemed to do the trick! It has to be longer than the standard ones.. Griffin brand didn't work and the regular Belkin didn't work either. Hope this helps!
