When checking the transmission fluid where is the dipstick? ... there is not one on the underneath side of the cap ... should there be? & if not can someone please tell me how I can check this myself going to the shop for somethng like this isn't really an option for me currently

You check if it's filled by parking in a level spot, raising the vehicle while keeping it level, removing the "level check plug", and (with engine/tranissiom warmed up) enduring a small amount of fluid weeps out of the hole for the level check plug.

The transmission is a sealed unit.
