Fairly easy to install - Robert had said the couplers would be a pain to get over the MAF; fortunately I had some spares from another project that were slightly wider on one end and they fit right on :). My one issue is that there was a ton of play in the setup as nothing is keeping it secure except for the connection into the engine; I e-mailed Robert about it and he hasn't gotten back to me yet (probably out & about for the Holiday). It would seem to me that the hole in the box panel should more closely match the tubing so that it wouldn't be able to move as much.

Anyway I had some heat wrap from when I did the FWI in my Grand Prix so I cut a piece out and put it around the box panel opening; the only problem is that it's silver instead of the fashionable black of the rest of the setup but oh well.

Driving Impressions: A little bit louder but not a whole lot; then again I had quite a bit done to my Grand Prix plus that had a supercharger so that was LOUD :-D by comparison. A little bit more "scoot" as well getting around a slow car in traffic so that's a plus as well.

Anyway on to the pics:

IM HERE!!! Hey...I emailed you earlier.....well...i thought I did.
In looking at it you need to rotate your FPU up on the pass side
and pull it out a tad from the TBI silicone so its straight accross the front of the
engine bay. When you loosen up the adjusting pipe on the driver's side of the MAF
you can adjust it as well so there is no dip on the pass side.

The intake is designed to move some with the engine. The slight open space you want
to put heat wrap into allows the pipe to rotate so dont get rid of that feature or the intake will work itself apart. Its designed to move a tad with the engine. Just make sure
once you adjust it up that you tighten up all the clamps and you will be fine.

I have yet to have anyone work theirs apart so no worries!!

I do have some brackets I designed for exactly what you are describing that you want.
I assure you they are not needed but if it helps you sleep at night I can fab you up a set. Check your email I sent you cause I put a link in there that shows them.

Its all good...I assure you. The CAB will cradle it and the FPU will be fine.

**EDIT- maybe I should make my sticker louder than the K&N one.....cause it looks like a K&N intake with that sticker on the cab.
It drowns mine out. :(

OK thanks - I will make the proposed adjustments ;)

And the problem with the CI/K&N sticker battle is that your logo is silver instead of white so it doesn't show up as good

I take it you bought the option 3 and the pipe upgrade. I am going to buy option 3 but not sure about the pipe. you think it helps or more for looks? How much did you pay total?

I just noticed your cover is gone. Getting it painted or you like the nakid look?
I also just noticed your "Midlife Crisis, Phase II" ...lol

I recently got a tattoo on my arm and between that an my "project" car
Ive been getting that comment allot. Sooo maybe I am in Phase I. lol

I know your not asking me lcplmouw but the FPU removes the indentions in your stock pipe - like the one for your dipstick and it replaces the pinch on your 90 degree turn at your TBI with a true 3" mandrel bent intake component.

The area of the stock tubing is 5.7 squared inches (pie x radius x radius) and the area of the Crab Intakes FPU is 7.07 squared inches.

That's a 24% increase in tube circumference.

Ive only had one guy buy & install the FPU first before the intake and he reported higher low end torque.
His name is Mike (user name mike91y2k) and he can be reached here to verify this. ;)

There is no doubt it is better in both the performance and looks category but I think the Bling Factor is the larger plus. It looks awesome.

Obviously Lampoon addressed your issues quite well, except for price which of course he is also best suited to address ;)

And thanks for the compliments all

p.s. Phase I was modding the crap out of my last car ; Phase II was getting a convertible ; FWIW I have 4 tattoos which I got 5 years ago so maybe I'm on Phase III

Sorry missed this question the first time around - just took it off for the "nakid look" - I suppose if anyone's truly interested in a 3.9 engine cover you can shoot me a PM to negotiate

does the pipe upgrade come with the crab sticker already on it? I'd rather install the sticker afterwards.

lampoon. i know its kind of a late reply, but to answer your question...yes. I like the light blue and dark blue combination. I'm not gonna do flames, but I already have 5 different blues and I'm hoping that one of them will match my dark blue OEM body color. If not, it will still look pretty BA once I get the chance and weather to do it.
