Hey guys, I just bought my wifey a 2006 G6 GT and it has a small issue. When turning (in either direction, does not matter which way) there is a clunking/knocking noise that comes from the rear of the car. It only does it when turning, I have not heard the noise while going strait or going over bumps. The knocking also goes along with the speed of the car, if I go faster when turning, the knocking gets faster, and vice versa. It also does not matter if i'm pressing the brakes, the noise is still there.

After research it seems like it could possibly be the rear sway bar links, but i'm still not 100% sure. I will be inspecting them today to see if they look worn, but i'd just like to see if anyone else has an opinion on what the problem could possibly be so I can check it when i'm under there today.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not being a smartass here, but pull the carpet and climb back in there and check for a golf ball or something like that, in the recessed area, . When I got the last ball out of there on my G6 the clunking went away.:D

Thanks for the suggestion, it's defenitely coming from outside of the car though. We also halfway tore the car apart when cleaning it when I bought it so there shouldnt be anything left in there that could make the sort of noise it's making. I really wish a golf ball in the back was the culprit though haha.

I have an 06 does the knocking noise, but its due to the intermediate steering rod that pontiac uses. If its when you turn might be it. Theres nothing wrong with it just the way its made.

I got the issue fixed, it turned out to be a warped brake rotor in the rear. I got all 4 rotors turned and installed new brake pads and the noise is completely gone now.
