Has anybody seen the latest news story on the G6, where they are talking about the G6 and how the sales for GM are way down? The story went on to say that it is because the car is not that great. They are comparing the sales to the start up of the Grand Am, and it's down about 14%.

I just bought a G6 GT, and I love it. I did alot of research on the car, and most reviews on it were really good, except of course for Consumer Reports, and in my opinion, they are totally biased toward foreign made cars anyway.

What does anybody else think about this?

For the price the g6 is an excellent value, imo. I purchased a G6 GT completely loaded - leather, chrome tech wheels, pan roof, 6 disc cd, everything but side curtain airbags - for 23,600 after rebates. This was with 1% financing through GMAC.

Now go try to buy a fully loaded vehicle in the same class from Nissan, Toyota or Honda. No way you're in the same price range.

I checked out several vehicles in the g6's class, and the only one that seemed to be in the same range as far as what you get for the price was the Mazda 6, and I didn't want to buy something under the Ford umbrella.

Basically I didn't want to pay 28K for a fully loaded Nissan Altima.

Those near 30K GT prices and near mid 20s base prices at launch hurt sales IMHO.

I paid 24K for a base with a few options... now you can get the same car for prolly 19 or 20K.. i think they will pick up steam now with lowered prices.. but they were priced wrong right out the gate.

I agree completly. Now its more likely to get a good deal since there are too many at the factory and on dealers lots. 26K for a gt the solid value panaoramic sunroof package. A little more pricey that I would have liked to have seen it.

At launch the car was overpriced, with the incentives the car is where it should be. It will take a while to overcome that initial mistake. Not to mention the fact that GM launched the in-between model. The lack of a 4 cylinder model at rock bottom prices and a missing top of the line model to compete with the imports was also a lapse of judgement. We'll see how the car is doing in a year when the entire line has been on sale for a while to see if it was a worthy successor to the Grand Am sales-wise.

edit: Xtremegrandam: I like the avatar! We must think alike!
