So I've replaced all exterior bulbs with LED bulbs, except my fogs, HIs, and LOs. If I have my lights off, and my fog light switch off. then if I use any turn signal it'll make all my parking lights flash with it. Unless I turn the fog light switch ON. (It's wired to pull power from the parking lights circuit) I'm assuming there just isn't enough load on the system so it all flashes. But I have resistors front and back to keep the turn signal flashing slow. This is perplexing. So far I've just been keeping the fog light switch on so it all works properly.

Any ideas on that one?


And Today I installed LED interior lights, for my Map, Dome, and Trunk light.

now that it's dark I noticed that once the interior lights turn off... one or both of the map lights are slightly on, very dim, but on. I'm not worried about it killing the battery. I just want to know why the hell does it do that?!? I mean there shouldn't be anything to monitor current draw to notify me of a bulb out. I used automotive replacement LEDs with little resistors built in to each bulb. This is just crazy.

And if I turn on both Map lights, then the dome light will glow a little.

Anyone else with LEDs have these issues? Maybe I just need MORE Resistors! EVERYWHERE! haha

I have the same issue with my LED interior lights they light up a little when off....and if you turn on one of the map lights and then turn it back off it doesnt light up anymore but the other map light and dome light are brighter I know that it has to have some kind of resistor to stop it but like you i have put resistors in there to stop it and it has had no effect

GM has a system where it pumps a slight amount of voltage through the lights for battery run down protection.... the system is now seeing the wrong values come back because incandescent bulbs pass voltage throught the filament differently than LED's. LED's are essentially doides, which is why they flash much faster when you use them as marker bulbs. I don't think there is anything you can do to make the system think there are standard bulbs for the interior, but I will find out.

Well I figure if resistors simulate the load so the blinkers don't hyper flash then maybe a small resistor SOMEWHERE on the dome light circuit will work. Since I added courtesy lights outside I think I can safetly mount a small resistor somewhere and fix it.

but I mean, it's really drawing barely any power, It's an LED that's dim. That kind of draw on the battery will probably have no effect at all. Unless it was left for years, but then the battery would die anyways

I guess if they would both be on. AT LEAST it would be cool if they were both the same brightness. It's almost cool having a kind of bluish mood lighting, haha

I've had the same problem for about 5 months. No dead battery. What I have noticed though is that with my Subs in my car... the lights actually flicker to the music. So the brightness between the two becomes negligible because they bump to the music. Looks pretty neat if I do say so myself.

Mine do that as well for the interior, I don't mind it because it's a peculiar accent lighting. lol I was going to try to put resistor's in it but I don't mind it that much!

Also, today I got a new Speedometer so I can change the bulbs in it and test it. Can't wait and will upload pictures soon.

Yea I'm starting to like the interior lights, it kind of goes to my music and adds a nice little accent.

All I wonder about is my courtesy lights under the car, they're wired into the circuit and I don't want them all lit up while I drive. BUT I'll just try it and see... once I fix em
