Which of the following would you guys choose and why?:

Pioneer Avic-N2

Pioneer Avic-D1

Kenwood DDX8017 with KNA-DV4100

With any of these units, I'm going to get the Metra kit so that I still have my DIC stuff. That makes me lean toward the AVIC-N2, since I would have to get the Metra kit ripped up and custom installed somewhere with the AVIC-D1 or DDX8017, but I like the idea of a NAV system flush with the dash.

Problem with the N2 is that it blocks two of the air vents when its flipped up. Someone had a pic of it on here not too long ago... I have been REALLY looking at the D1 today and im probably going to buy it along with the Metra kit as well. BUT what will I lose if I put in the D1? ex: Remote start, keyless entry, etc...

I have first hand expierence with all these pieces, minus the actual nav on the kenwood, and considered both the N2 and D1 (look out for the Z1 in 06')
and heres my take on them all
Kenwood = decent little deck/screen but the problem is that it is a double din so no drivers info,
Avic N2 = Personally dont like this peice very much as a deck, especially the screen (compared to the Pio 7600 piece) but Pioneer Nav is by far my favorite nav system out there i have personally used, but it will definatly block the two air vents/ hazard lights
Avic D1 (Z1) = quite possibly my favorite piece out there, i love the doubledin, love the navi, love pretty much everything about it, minus the fact i cant put it in my G6

so pretty much your either losing either your drivers info, or your vents/hazard lights,

PS if you go with the D1, rember that it wont play DVDs so youll need a standalone DVD player if thats what you want
and if you buy the N2 you have to solder a conncetion together to make the movie, and navi work while driving....

What I was thinking of, with the 3303, was to remove the electronics from it, and install them somewhere else.

I'd really rather have a kit that fits the dash than a kit that has a flip out screen.

My other consideration is a carputer. I have all the parts I need except for the screen/power supply, so I may go that route.

Exactly. The flip out screen is the coolest part of the whole thing and thats why I wont settle for an ISO. This is actually a good idea and I might look into it.

Hey Canada! Ya Baby!

I AM IN CANADA!! Toronto BABY! And the maps are awesome! I've driven Windsor to Montreal with pinpoint accurracy!!! I even look up phone numbers on my NAVI.

For all of you who don't want to lose your drivers information from your deck for a navi, you are FOOLS. The drivers info is useless, and you can relocate your deck if you really want to keep it!!

There is also an aftermarket part from schoche to plug into our GM lans to access the same functionality found in our GM lan head units.
