Im starting getting near the end of my lease and after many months of lusting over the G6 Im close to being able to lease one, and my question is for those who have the manual transmission from the 2006 GTP versions. What do you think about the ease of using the manual in say snowy weather, like if you start to slide. And how hard would it be to learn to drive one? I've drove a pick-up with a stick once or twice with not much luck, but I kind of have a desire to have a "true" sports car feeling with a manual. I know they only come with the sport package on the GT this year. Hard to find too! Only three I've seen here within 100 miles, two whites and a silver. Great selection  Thanks for any answers!

Well, Winter is not a good time to learn to drive a manual. With a manual, you can use 'engine braking ' to slow down the car.

If you like to feel in control of your car, a manual is definitely worth it. There is also the advantage better fuel economy, by using the overdrive gears(5th and 6th).

My thoughts,
Starting off in 1st is the only real problem, once moving you just shift. I also think that after you have taken off 20 + times you will have a pretty good well for it. So after 5 days or so, you will wounder why you asked. But the first couple days can be challenging.

About using the motor as a brake in the snow. Be careful, I once down shifted my 40 hp VW bug to 2nd in snow with snow tires on and I spun just over 360 degrees. Yep that tiny little 40 hp motor had more compression than my tires had traction.

Good tires and driving slow is the way to go in either an auto or a manual trany in snow. So go get it and drive it a lot the first couple days.
