I was driving my car earlier and I made a wide turn too quickly just after it had been raining and I completely messed up the front right rim and tire. My grandpa took a look at it and thinks I might of bent the axle, does any know how much that will cost me? I'm hoping not too much cause I am going to have to pay for this myself and I'm only 17.

thats messed up man, haha.. I would say you would have to have smacked that tire pretty damn hard. But I did the same thing, raining, too fast, and i wanted to skid through the turn but i ended up trashing my right rim... although your grandpa may have age and experience on his side, i would take it to a dealer or auto shop for a second opinion.

is there any shaking or vibration while you drive and does turning seem more difficult? I would imagine those would be signs of a bent axel..

well the tire is like 20 degrees to the right when the other is straight. The tire also is rubbing against the back of the wheel well. Unfortunately the garage we go to isnt open til Monday. What was the price to fix your car FLgator?

well, im 17 too my man. so if there is a issue with mine, i dont plan on fixing it. yet i had my tires rotated and aligned a week ago and there was nothing said.. However, with that said, you may have simply knocked your right wheel out of alignment, which would explain the 20 degrees to the right scenario. With all this said, i HIGHLY doubt you bent your axel.. Just take it to tires plus or something and have them raise it up and check it out. Probably no more than $100, which is a way exaggerated price.

I plan on taking to a garage tomorrow. I don't know how bad it is considering I slid into the curb as as opposed to hitting it head on, (It actually kinda reminded me of bumper cars.) but hopefully the car is just off center. My grandpa and I tried to take the wheel off and take a look, but the dealer I got the car from decided to make sure no one could unscrew the wheels.

So we had it taken to the garage today and they told me it will cost $1500.

edit: its gonna cost me $1900. I have $1400 in the bank but IDK about the rest
wha wha wha what!?!?!?!

no no no no. You politely flick that mechanic off and go to the next one. No way in hell is it 1900 for that fix. What i suggest you do, to prevent highway robbery, read up on the g6, and the price of parts. So when you go to the dealer or mechanic, your not sitting there listening to him ramble about things you have no clue of, never have heard, or don't even have on the car.. Knowledge is beautiful man, so read up and once your set, get to the mechanic with a firm stance so if they say this or that you can say, you can set em straight. Unfortunately, some of them are snakes and WILL swindle you. Watch out.

Did you get the parts list of whats is "Damaged"
I could also be a tie rod which is not an uncommon problem with any vehicle. especially with a tire having a toe in or out. tie rod is 80-100 fix

I would just get a second opinion.

I had a broken axle on the right, new wheel bearing, new rim tire. tie rod. and coulple other things that added up two 2 grand. for comparison if you have that much damage.

Still seems way too high. What about insurance? Will that cover the bulk are you left to handle this yourself?
