Monsoon sound system... sub-par at best?

I'm basically starting this thread as a "new member" thread has been hijacked my anti-new member thread terrorists. :D

...So to continue our discussion about the monsoon stereo system...

At least it provides enough bass to shake your rear-view mirror. hah.

I've been looking into getting this Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT which should help some on the stock speakers... I haven't picked out which speakers/bass and amp combo to go with it yet though. This will be about 3-6 months down the line.

will you be using the HU power for the interior speakers or an separate amp?

Definitely going to want a new amp... Haven't picked which one out yet. I'm still planning my budget deficit. I have a list of items I'm saving up for, some of which include:

Rims (and possibly tires if I go 18's)...Looking at these:

(I was originally looking at some other Konig's...but I saw some spokes like this on another G6 and fell in love. haha

CRABS / CAI (A must have...eventually. ;) )
Tint (I'm thinking 35% on my back two, and maybe 50% on the front windows... as I always drive with my front windows down.)

New rear valence for dual out's
GT-R Exhaust
MPD Hood (Must... have... ram....air.)
Paint the hood (Gotta match!)

HIDs (not on my list of urgent items)

Between all that, I'm having a hard time deciding: Do I want to work on my eclipse and turbo it? (I have the turbo, but I have to rebuild the engine and tranny...which I kinda want to do.) Or spend the money on the G6 first and work on it later?

If I go G6 first...Do I want to get rims first...Or my audio system? If I get my audio system, then what amp/speakers/subs do I want? I haven't decided yet. Decisions, decisions... haha.

i can help yo on the stereo end......rims however all the rims i like come from gm lol....
Really? Lol. I don't like factory rims: 1) Most everyone has them, or 2) They are extremely overpriced....

Got some pics of any of the GM rims you like? Or do you actually like the standard equipped ones?

As for audio, I haven't had the time to decide where I want to put which audio components at the top of my budget... gotta prioritize them. I know my head unit is definitely going at the top of my list. Which, I've already picked out... I had a decent kenwood system in my car that was all customized by Audioworld. It was good, probably one of the best audio systems in the parking lot at my high school two years ago. But, I'm not settling for 'good' in my G6, I want greatness. :D

I might go back with some kenny's, kickers...I haven't really done my research into the current audio market to see whats good right now (aside from the HU.) So I need to look into that... Suggestions welcomed though. :bigok: I am an audiophile, as I play guitar and have a trained ear for things. So I can hear the difference in sound qualities...

On the Monsoon System topic, your right. The Pioneer system in my G5 GT is much better than the Monsoon one in the G6. At least I think so.

When I bought the G6 that was like the one downgrade that I didn't like. It was that my G5 had a better stock sound system.

The first rims in your last post...looked exactly like the Konig's I was originally wanting to get... And those last rims, the Caddy's...Those are ballin. But they are Cadillac's... And thats how Caddy's roll. haha. I never thought I want 5 single, thinnish spokes, until I saw how great they look on the car. Man, it changed my mind about those rims. I plan on getting those rims I posted the pic of, and painting my calipers 2-tones to contrast my car and rims.

Be my guest if you'd like to put together a list, suggestions are always welcomed!

Didn't see your comment until just now... and I agree. Heck, I even like the JBL sound system my mom's RAV4 has over our "premium" sound sytem... A girl friend of mine has a VW Beetle that has the monsoon sound system... G6's should not be matched to a little vdub in terms of sound quality. ...and the fact that I don't like having the same system as her....lol
Dang son, that's pretty detailed. Good job... But I left out one minor detail... (Oops!) That budget was AFTER the fact of purchasing a head unit (No, I haven't bought one yet.) I've already decided that I'm going to get the Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT... That alone is over a grand, but well worth it. Starting either next month, or the end of this month, I'll start the buying process of things for my G6... That should be quite exciting. :D ..I might even go this weekend if I can and actually get the windows tinted. haha.

Edit: I'm almost off work, I'll go over your list when I get home later...but I noticed a second battery...this setup isn't going to need a new / additional alternator is it? haha

So? that means I still have 2G's to work with :p, But I will say this..I would never drop a G on a HU, if i got anymore than 500$ i'm going carputer...Just thought i wouls share

And expensive :p but HELP THE ECONOMY!!

Done.... Group deal :p

No, Just one BIG ass battery that will be recolated to the trunk. you should do the alt.... But I think you have have a 120amp more likely a 150amp and two of the amplifers have 35amp fuses and the other a 45 amp so in theory you should be fine
What kind of carputer are you suggesting? Like a laptop or something?

And yes, that budget was without including the head unit. It sure as hell is expensive, though. Lol.

And would you have any alternative recommendations in your headunit price range? I'm going for functionality, quality and accessibility. It needs to either be able to do aux and/or USB/Flash Card/SD
I was doing some reading on the HYBRID AUDIO LEGATIA L1v2 and they seem to be pretty good actually... And our cars actually have 8 speakers, 4 tweets (2 in the door, 2 above the bass), 2 bass, and 2 mids.

It seems like all aftermarket tweets and some speakers are going to require some sort of fabrication to fit our car... :(

Focus on the front stage..... two good door speakers two good tweets.
simple and it works.
as far as the cartputer go look around on mp3car.com for ideas ;)

What about the mid range? And I'll check that site out. :D

But I definitely want to replace all of the speakers, not just the front half. ;)
The mid range.....The setup I made you did have mids

Tweets=HIgh
Daytons for the Door=Mids
Dayton subs = Lows

More speaekrs don't = better sound,There is no use for rear speakers infact I bet 1000$ that if you add speaekrs in the rear deck you would not know the diffrence, they are only useful for the rear passngers. in fact any more well **** up your sound stage.

I want you keep those amps..... Umm so I have 1000$ to play with for amps, subs, speakers, and Misc stuff than Right?
