I just bought a 2006 g6 gtp with a 3.9 auto in it. Problem is it only has reverse. Ive found out it has the 4t65e tranny in it, but I need guidance as far as finding a rebuilt or reman one. I found them from other cars, but is there a difference? Or is a 4t65e the same no matter what it was out of? If anyone knows a good place to find one id appreciate it.
Thanks

trans

the 4t45e is used for the ecotec engines(cavalier, grand am,sunfire, etc). I have recently fully rebuilt the trans and added the Transgo shift kit in my 06 G6 GTP 3900. The trans model is the 4t65e for the 06 3.9's. Same trans as the Grand Prix, Bonneville, Montana, etc... with a slightly smaller diameter torque converter. The 06 4t45e was only standard in the 4 cylinder base models. The 4t65e was standard for the V6 models, including the 3.9L GTP.
