I've replaced the brakes on my MX-5 before so I figured it's a simular operation on the G6. I've taken the caliper and bracket off to replace the rotors and pads. I've taken the brake resevoir cap off and tried to compress the caliper pistion, with a C-clamp, it doesn't want to retract to fit over the new rotors and pads, how can I retract the piston?

these calipers dont compress... I went through the same problems first time. what you need is this

It sits in the caliper and you turn the piston back with a 3/8 ratchet. it runs about 13.00 from auto parts store

Same tool for the front brakes? I need to replace both front and rear

Thanks for the info waterfowler76, I just made a tool to fit in the 2 slots on the end of the piston.

you dont need this tool for the front..the front compress

Make sure you put the pad's in the right spot. there are inside and outside pads. The inside pads have a knob that locks to the piston to keep the pistons from turning in.
