I have a 2008 G6 and I was wondering if it would be possible to swap in the 2009.5 / 2010 instrument cluster that has the DIC and still use the stock radio that also has the DIC. I don't know if having DIC in both at the same time would mess anything up or if they would work like normal. I plan on putting in a double din radio eventually but I would like to try putting in the cluster first.

I had this setup for a short time. Both worked normally / mirrored each other. Using either the radio or steering wheel buttons would change both displays. What you will lose is the chimes and indicator sounds as this is part of the old instrument cluster. You will no longer have a cruise cancel button so you will need to tap the brakes or switch cruise control off. If you have the tap shift / fake manual mode transmission option you will lose the M1-M4 indication for the mileage.

That's pretty much all I noticed. Still happy I made the change and have since replaced the radio.

Thank you. I was mostly just worried that there might be some kind of conflict or the system would get confused or something. Also the mileage isn't stored in the clusters so it should show the same on the new cluster right?

Mine (2007 GTP) has been running with this update since 2015. I put in paddle shifters from a Saturn as well 😬. Never got around to replacing the radio. No issues, you just have two places to see the data. But instrument cluster is much better! I always wanted to go to a dealer and see if they could update my BCM so the I/C would read out manual shift mode (since I have paddle shift, I do use it pretty often). Have not looked into that.
these are great old cars. Need repairs and attention (some motors and Transmissions more than others) Still fun to drive around and doing great, 16 years and 200K+++
Best!
