I'm the owner of a 2007 G6 GT 3.5L convertible, having the issue that my car won't start reliably. It sometimes starts and runs but after sitting for a short time after it has been turned off it refuses to start. The starter clicks and it won't even crank. The battery is new and the voltage reads right, the alternator is also new. I literally just installed the new starter motor, while I was under there I noticed that the oil sensor next to the oil filter had developed a slow leak. But mindful of this I cleaned the electrical connectors leading to the new starter. It's not the anti theft, and it has a remote start that works fine so long as the car is having a good day. The engine also makes a slight whistle past 2k rpm but I think it is just a minor exhaust leak. Bad ground? IDK what to do. Its left me stranded more and more since I bought it in march.

TLDR: new starter/battery/alternator, intermittently starts sometimes

Turn the key on and jump the big hot wire and smaller wire together on the starter with a screwdriver or something and see if it starts without problems. Don't jump it to the ground wire. If the starter is clicking ignition switch is doing it's job and it might be a defective NEW starter. YES it happens. I always bench test my starters before installing them with jumper cables going from the battery to the starter. Ground the starter with the ground cable and touch the hot cable to the big post on the starter. It should spin right over. If it only arcs it's a bad starter
