Newbie: GTP Sedan 6-speed

HI

Two weeks ago I bought a black '06 G6 GTP Sedan with the 6-speed manual. It has every option available (except the engine block heater...don't need that on Long Island).

I have about 515 miles on it. The panaromic roof looks sharp. But if you ask me, it lets in too much wind noise when closed and it creaks/rattles a touch more than I'd like.

Other than that, the car is great. I do miss the 300C I traded in for it though. It was faster, RWD, had a better sound system, did not have any rattles, and I just flat out liked the looks.

But the G6 is a nice compromise (I needed something more fuel efficient and more adept at city parking). The manual makes it very entertaining, and the XM and Onstar are fun gadgets.

Issues: Sometimes it keeps cranking even after the car has started (no, I'm not holding the key over to "start"). And the powersteering system shudders occasionally at low-speed.

Welcome to the club.
"Sometimes it keeps cranking even after the car has started"

Car will do that if you hold in start position too long. It is a controlled circuit. Try just bumping the key to start, releasing immediatly. The engine will continue to turn untill it starts.

Welcome and congratulations on the new GTP.

Im on Long Island too. I had a 350z before the GTP Coupe. The RWD was fun and the power was great, but being only a 2 seater I needed something bigger and something that can get me through the winter. I commute from West Hempstead to Hauppauge, so I wanted something more comfortable. And I actually dont miss the 350z. (well at least not yet).

I had the overstart problem just once when I first picked up the car. I was told just turn it and quickly release. Seems to work. Havent had it happen again, even though its only been a week (knock on wood).

eeeeeeee, yah. I don't think so :p

But the G6 isn't ugly, and that's good news.
You are probably the only one that likes the looks of the 300 on this board.
