I am wanting to get a double din installed on my 2007 G6.(Thinking of: Pioneer 5.8" In-Dash Double-Din Car Video Deck (AVH-P3100DVD) )

I dont want to lose my access to the stock features of reseting oil life, changing Miles to KM, etc.

What do i need to do, get to make sire everything works properly...if its possible. I will most likely just go to Best Buy or Futureshop to buy one and get it installed as i get a good deal there.

I have read other forums to try educate myself, but i dont really understand it, so i need info in easy follow format :)

I talked to the installer at Futureshop and he said they cant do it. They can have it with the screen for those options but you wont be able to change them.

That's because FS won't install equipment that they don't sell
+1. believe me when i say this, car audio is easy to do if you use your common sense, and take your time. Go out and buy yourself a Metra 99-3303, cut the harness and extend the wires long enough to fit it into your glovebox. You will also need the Metra DDIN dash kit for the G6. Connect the deck harness to the loose wires on the Metra 99-3303. plug the harness into your car and mount the deck to the dash kit. Plug all the deck wires in and make sure everything is working. Then just mount the dash kit and put everything back together.

I've seen too many cars come out of bestbuy/future shop with shotty work done to them. Thats the main reason i started doing my own audio. And at the time i also knew nothing about it. But doing it yourself is the best way to learn.

When extending the wires, can you just use speaker wire to do that?

i been trying to do something differ but i dont know if it might work, to extend the wires of the stock radio, to the glove box in the passenger side, the put the dd in n tap into the speaker wires and the other stuff, leaving the dic connected just turned off, that will leave all the sounds and messages accesible, will some one tell me if this would work,
