At the junkyard near me I scored a 6 disk HU from a 2008 that has the aux port.
The current radio is a 2007 6 disk HU. I know that it has to be programmed to the car and I'm fine with that my question is...
Do i have to have the VIN from the donor car to have it programmed? or is it as simple as hooking up a tech 2 like they did to program my RKE fobs?

I upgraded my '07 OEM to an '08. I ended up having to take it to a Chevy dealer

If you have access to a tech II I believe you can just perform a relearn. No need to have the VIN of the donor car as far as I recall.
