I have a 2006 G6 GTP 3.9 and have a very slow oil leak. If the car sits overnight there might be oil on the ground the size of a quarter. I noticed the leak at me last oil change. It looked to be coming from the oil filter itself. After changing the oil filter I noticed the gasket on the filter had a noticable thin spot in it so I thought that was the problem. I have about 1000 miles on this oil change and the leak is still there. So far it isn't leaking enough to show low on the dipstick. I took it to a mechanic today to check it out and he said it looked like a gasket from the oil filter housing to the block. My problem is the auto parts store doesn't show this part and don't know what I am asking for. I need to know what part (gasket, o-ring) that I need to buy and how hard of a job this will be to do myself. Thanks in advance for any help.

Another problem that I have is the passenger side axle is starting to pop when you turn it all the way (like in a parking lot). Same mechanic checked it out and said there was no play in the axle and I could get a grease needle and just grease the axle by poking it through the boots and getting grease in there. Does this sound right or is it a waste of time?
