So, about a year ago, I bought a slightly used 2007 G6 to take to college. The car, being the most basic G6 model a college gal can afford, didn't come with an alarm system. So, I took the car into a local auto shop and had an alarm system installed. It wasn't the most reputable auto shop and it wasn't the most top-of-the-line alarm system, but it seemed to be working fine until a week or two later. I noticed the alarm system was being a bit too sensitive, if I bumped into the door the lights would start flashing and the horn would start blaring. These instances weren't very frequent, though. I took my car to college and felt comfortable leaving it in a parking garage a few blocks away because of the alarm system. I would usually leave my car in the garage for days at a time, since I lived on-campus and would only use it on weekends. Well, after about a month or two, I noticed my remote would only work at closer and closer distances... pretty soon it would only unlock my car if I was 6 to 8 feet away from it. I would notice my engine would sputter a bit when I tried starting it. One day I went to my car and it wouldn't start at all... I got it jumped and thought it strange, but didn't have time to worry over it. Well, I went to my car another day and found a note on my window "Did you know your alarm goes off everytime a bus or truck passes by on the street outside? Is you battery drained?" Well, thank god someone was kind enough to put that note there because I never would have known. I spent the next month or so getting it jumped every time until I had a break from school in which I could address the situation. Well, the way I "addressed" the situation was I disconnected the alarm system from the horn; I know, stupid. The car wasn't making a racket every 5 seconds, the battery wasn't draining, and I could live with it. I did notice, however, a clicking noise whilst driving. It started driving me crazy after a while and it wasn't until I was waiting at a light that I saw a reflection of the front of my car on the back of the one in front of me and I saw my fog lights flashing. This has been happening for a while now. Any clue what it might be? I can't understand how my alarm could be going off WHILE I'm driving my car....

Thanks, Auto Idiot here :p

my guess is that it's a problem with a sensor or the wiring ... a slight vibration from a truck makes it go off ... does seem to be a little too sensetive ... me - i'd get it looked at ... because there's not much help you'll get on here ... it's an electronic problem and you should probabaly take it back to the place where you had the car alarm installed ...

good luck :)
