I've had my 05 with panoramic rook to the dealership 6 times and the only time that it got fixed for more than 2 weeks was the last time i took it. They said they ordered some 75 dollar lubricant and it lasted for about a month. A few days ago i started noticing it again so i called them and now they are working at getting me out of this car and into a new one....im thinking a gtp coupe.... If your not satisfied then threaten them with the lemon law, chances are they will contact GM themselves and you wont have to go through the hiring an attorney and what not. In my opinon the panoramic sunroof is awsome but will forever be stricken with problems, its to much of a headache for me which is why i want a new car.

Ty
The dealer never fixed it right, per GM's instructions, or it would have been noise-free from then on. No tightening, no lubricants, just adding a tiny bit of permanent space between the frame and the roof.

Mine is a month and a half out from the "real" repair and it still doesn't make a sound. It's quieter now than it was when it was new.

G6 and getting out of problem car

How are you making out getting out of your G6. I'm having many issues with the "P"roof too. Mine has been in 4 times or so with dealer having it over a month total.

I have asked about getting me out of the car and dealer and zone manager is no help. How did you do it? There is suppose to be a fix now, but think it's only going to get worse over time. I also have the steering lock up problem and the seat turning on problem.

Any info you can give me I would appreciate.

My GM rep at customer assistance is trying to help, but keeps running into problems.

PS also have On-Star that can't be tied to Verizons Digital network and drops call all the time, Digital version on On-Star was installed in brand new 05 model car.

Sounds like a class action suite to me. All we need is someone willing to take the case.

i have a 2006 G6 with the panoramic roof. i have had it in the shop now 4 or 5 times. they have tightened bolts and even replaced the whole "module". the wind noise is still horrible but at least it doesn't sound like a tea kettle anymore. i believe the design of the roof is bad. my dealer is in talks with a supervisor at GM to try and fix my problem. i'm not sure what else they can do for my roof but it is still loud. anyone know what my next step should be? what about the lemon law, how does it work? i love my car and my roof (when it's open and suppose to have wind noise). i don't know that i would but it again if i knew all the roof problems.

I too have the P Roof and Love the look but the noise and rattling suck big time!
My 2006 was purchased in March in April they replaced the module it was ok for about 3 weeks and then it started again. I will take it back and have them look at it next time I am in for maintenance but from what I see here the fix is not available...
I asked about this at the dealership when i was buying they said they were not aware of any problems... Sounds like Pontica is trying hard to push this under the rug and not fixing it properly!
Not sure what to do next! Any suggestions ???

my dealer has contacted GM and has a supervisor from there involved in my case. they have replaced my entire sunroof, replaced the molding...tightened screws and still it is so loud it is sounding like a tea kettle. this is causing me alot of headaches. does the lemon law pertain to sunroofs? i don't know where else to turn except an attorney but i really don't want to spend the money on one. i use to love my car but now there are times i get in my car and think that i hate it and can't wait to get out of it. i have only had it 6 months now and it bothers me that i am having such problems out of GM. I think i'll go with a foreign car next.

mine is in the shop again, this time it's been there over a week. they say they aren't able to fix the problem but are still trying. i did find out that if i file a lemon law on it that when i go to get other cars that it will show that i lemon lawed a car..makes it look bad and won't get such a good deal. i am hoping that this is the last time my car goes in the shop but if not maybe they will just trade me another without filing anything. on yahoo answers a man said they traded him a 207 convertible for his because they couldn't fix the roof. i would settle for not tea kettle sound on mine.

Panoramic roof troubles

Today, my 2006 G6 is in for the 3rd time with p-roof problems. I told the salesman that I bought the car from that my 2002 VW didn't make half of the noise that this p-roof makes.

My summary on my 2006 G6.. Love the car, hate the roof.

The service manager told me today.. "You know, we have at least 20 hours in to this car, and I don't know what you expect. This roof, between you and me, will never be quiet."

Real encouraging, eh?

Well my Pano roof is fixed for sure this time. They have 4 things they do to fix the roof now. The 4th one has just been approved by GM. The service tech developed this one for the bar that runs across the back of the roof. He has fixed over 30 roofs and have not had any come back. They said all dealers should have the book with all the fixes. Mine was fixed in Antioch IL at Country Pontiac.

I had the bar put in mine (last repair) and still no sucess. The thing seems to keep getting louder each time, despite the mylar washers, etc. I had it back 6 times since taking delivery in July.

I talked to the dealership general manager, and they are looking to get me a replacement vehicle. I asked for a GT (without the p-roof) as a replacement, and they said that it shouldn't be a problem.

The regional manager for GM is locating a vehicle from me, since the replacement will actually be thru Pontiac and not the dealership. This didn't seem to make much sense to me, so I am thinking that the dealership might be trying to make it look like the blame lies elsewhere.

My running joke has been I like to drive my quiet vehicle, instead of the G6.. My quiet vehicle is a 2000 Ford F250 Diesel..

Can't wait to get rid of the p-roof.

Well, I just got back from my meeting with the regional manager from GM.. What a joke.. He told me that they want the next two to three months to get "all the right people" focused on my problems with my car. He said in the meantime they will make my payments.

I told him it is unacceptable. I am planning on filing a lemon law suit now.

Hopefully I can be rid of the car altogether. This is the 2nd GM vehicle I have had horrible luck with. Maybe if I buy a 3rd, it will be the "charm"...

Let 'em make the payments, THEN get rid of the car. It could take a long time to fix the car, and then when the problem happens again (I think the car is not sturdy enough for the P-roof long-term), then do the lemon law thing. Meanwhile, drive it like you stole it, knowing someone else is picking up the $$$ and you're going to get rid of it anyway. Just my $.02

as many of you do, I have the panoramic roof and it has been nothing but a headache. Rattles, tapping, knocking, popping, you name it I have the noise coming from the sunroof. And it is LOUD. And FREQUENT. I have taken it in to the dealer twice now. The first time they basically tightened some bolts, which made the noise worse. The second time they say that they completely took the unit apart and put it back together. The noise is still there. They now say that the next step is just to replace the panoramic roof unit. The entire thing. Have any of you had this done? IF so, did the problem re-occur? Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions? This is a major repair and I would like some input before I have it done.
Beware. I have a 2006 g6 with a panoramic sunroof and it has been in the shop 7 times now. It is worse than ever. i filed with the bbb autoline. GM has offered to take it as a trade if i pay 1250.00 usage fee or they will buy it back less the rebate (they kept the rebate..i didnt' get it) plus what i was upside in my trade. so they want me to pay 5700.00 for them to buy my car back, leavig me with nothing to drive. This is my last general motors vehicle. They treat their customers horrible. My car is really worth very little because of the noise. i would never be able to sell it like this. The more you get it fixed the more it will have noise and rattle. my cover is having to be replaced now. they replaced the modules and the glass to the roof. i am not happy at all with this situation. it's a 23000.00 car and not worth 10,000. If i were you i would not have it repaired any more than you already have....it gets worse, i know that's hard to believe but it does.

I just met with the area rep. he and the service manger rode in my car and then he taped off each panel at different times. nothing cut down on he noise so he says he believes it's just how it sounds. i asked if he would have paid 20,000 or more for this car and he said "well, i would know what to exptect" i informed him i never expected a piece of crap for that much money. now i really dont know what to do. he still insists that if he allows me to trade it i will have to pay 1250.00 for usage. I wish there was a class action lawsuit...i'd join the bandwagon. the rep says he will go drive another one and will call me friday and tell me what he hinks. my car didn't do this until about 2500 miles or so. he can't answer why if this problem is natural why it wasn't that way when i bought it. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh
