Looking on rockauto I bought the MN15 option. There’s an MN5 option which the overall length is only 21” but the distance between the two boots is greater (it looks like it at least) and on my axle the distance between the two boots are greater than the part I bought

 

You gotta pull the inner stub shaft off the cv axel.

 

I know it’s not in the pic but I did take it off and put them side by side and the old one is still longer

Thank you! Looking at the description it says 23 inches though which is my only concern because the one I bought originally also said 23 inches I’m thinking it should be like 25?

 

Mine is an 08 GT- As long as it measures 23 1/8 compressed length 36mm hex nut, outboard and inboard spline matches, and it has both ends like the one you took off it should work

 

Okay so it’s the same as my car then, thank you. It just didn’t make sense how the correct part according to them when they looked up my vin was too short and that was one hell of a test drive since I noticed after 😂

 

Definitely comparing the next one I buy. Will let you know if that works

 

Sorry just getting back to respond. The part I ended up getting (which they said was wrong) is GM8206, and it worked. Been running it everyday for a month, one 900 mile trip. Can’t guarantee this for yours, but look into it

 

Thanks man. Currently using the old cv axle still. Yesterday I noticed after driving on the interstate at 75 mph for about 5 minutes, my car begins to make a loud ticking sound. I initially thought it was low oil pressure, so I slowed down and it continued to tick, ticked in neutral faster with the rpm’s, but as soon as I put it into park it stopped ticking. Engine oil level was fine, I drove it for hours that day, then I got back on the interstate and sure enough after 10 minutes it was ticking again. And didn’t stop ticking until I put it into park. Then it drove just fine after putting it into park. Wondering if it could be low transmission fluid? When I did try to use the short cv axle, I think I may have damaged the seal for where the axle goes in. Trying to find the part number for that and I’m gonna replace that and flush the trans fluid and go from there..

 

I don’t recommend flushing your tranny! Unless you’ve been doing it. Look this up for more info on why.
It’s better to just check your level and add fluid if it’s low. You can find a video on YouTube for this.
I ended up losing transmission fluid after my cv axle broke. It’s now leaking, so going to have to figure that out (seal?).
But depending on your transmission/year, there’s a bolt on the side of the pan, to check your level, passenger side by the cv axle

 

Same shit happened to me when I ordered my passenger side CV axle from auto zone and picked up in the store.
I argued with my brother who was installing it and said auto zone it's correct so it must be correct. So make it fit. He told me they are 2 different sizes but I demanded they are the correct part because auto zone said so LOL (stupid of me I know!)
Well my brother continued to install them and once finished. I left and no more than 3 seconds down the street my CV axle falls out of my transmission on me!! I couldn't shift my car into Park or anything! I had to use my Emergency Brake and my brother ended up getting it to where he was able to push my car back up the driveway and into the garage. He then put my old one back on till I was able to take my car to a shop. The shop told me to use genuine parts from NAPA instead of Auto Zone.

 

I wonder if a Napa part would solve my new transmission leak from the passenger side?

 

I think this car is coming to retirement. Few months back when I had the too short cv axle in, and it popped out, I’m afraid it did some internal damage to my transmission. I’m now getting a P0700 and P0751 , as well as no cruise control and the gears are sticking. It says shift solenoid A stuck off. I had tried adding some fluid last week. DEXRON VI, added 1 quart to top it off and checked fluid level. Before any codes came, I had also noticed a ticking noise at 70 mph+ that would disappear upon parking the vehicle.
