I own a Pontiac G6 2.4L 4 door sedan and recently replaced the alternator because the old one was shot. As of a couple days ago when I start the car is starts up great and then when I go to take it out of park it changes gears but acts as if the car is going to die. The check engine light battery light traction control lights all come on just as if the car was about to die. If you give it a second after that it will drive until you put it in park and go to do the same again. It is a very inconsistent problem but am worried about what else it could cause. Car also seems to have a little less power than it should. Any help would be much appreciated as of now there is no lights on the dash when driving so I haven't checked it for any codes.

Also when it happens the radio turns off and then right back on as if the entire car lost power for only a couple seconds. Could it be a problem with the new alternator maybe not enough power?

Sounds like maybe the alternator is fully loaded with something drawing a lot of current. This could slow the engine idle even more when in Drive. Measure with a volt meter on the battery terminals when the car is off, when car is running fine and when the problem is happening. I would also carefully feel for hot wires at the alternator and battery connections. Sorry - that's all I got.
