Your best bet would be to get the OBD II Diagnostic Codes with a scan tool. Most of the auto stores will do this for free if you don't know someone who has one. From there you will have a better idea of what the engine control module is sensing that is putting it into limp mode. It would also be worth mentioning your engine size when you post the codes.

Good luck getting it sorted.

I have 5 codes that are showing, po641 po107, po452, po974, and po700. 107 is a mapping device which I replaced already and the code is still there, also traction esc light is on, I guess I will have a to take it to the shop.

If it were mine, I would ignore the traction control and service ESC for now. These are most likely triggered by the fact that the engine has issues due to the DTC codes you mention. DTC codes are often permanent until cleared with the scan tool, so at some point you will need to clear them and see what comes back.

DTC P0107: Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage - you mention this has been replaced.
DTC P0641: 5-Volt Reference 1 Circuit - this supplies low voltage to the MAF, Fuel Pressure sensor and other sensors, (see P0452 below) - This is most likely the cause of a number of the problems.
DTC P0452: Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage - The FTP sensor voltage is less than 0.1 volt for more than 5 seconds. Could simply be disconnected, a wiring issue or a faulty sensor.
DTC P0974 1-2 Shift Solenoid (SS) Control Circuit High Voltage
DTC P0700: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination - this is a generic code most likely related to P0974 above.

Hope some of this helps

Thank you, so it sounds as if the map is not working properly because if the 5volt circuit thing you mentioned, what does that mean , I'm not really all that car smart, but I would like to know what I need to do to fix it, thanks

That would be my guess as it appears to be common for a number of the faults. If it were me, I would start by using a multimeter to measure the 5v and unplug, re-plug the related devices on the schematic to see if the voltage changed / hit the desired 5v. That may pinpoint the faulty component if there is one. If a wire is broken or damaged, that might be more challenging to find. Another thing I would try is to reseat the big PCM connectors. The 5v looks to be sourced from there and maybe it is just a poor connection (less likely, but I would still give it a try).

Good luck with the fix.

I don't think you can simply reset a new ECM. I believe it has to be reprogrammed to match the VIN so that the security module will recognize it. Reprogramming requires a Tech II or similar OBD II scan tool and a subscription to the GM / AC-Delco site as I understand it. I could be wrong as I have never had to do it.

One thing that might be worth doing is measuring the 5v at the MAF with the old and new ECM installed. Might give a clue if the ECM is the problem before having someone reprogram it for you.

I took it to a shop they had it for 6 hrs and didn't do anything except ck and got the same codes auto zone got and told me it might cost me a lot of money for them to ck all the codes. I asked about the MAF and he said it might be that but had to check out all the codes first.I got in my car and left he was basically an idiot who had no clue how to ck the system on my car. It's running OK except it sometimes shifts hard when I take off from a light and the esc light is still on. So I guess I will drive it until I figure it out

There is a ground wire behind your starter and it breaks over time. says error on dash. lights and everything work but no start. I fixed ground wire after $800 it ended up being a free fix of the ground wire .
let me know if this helps. I replacded ecm to and nothing.

There's a sensor that sits on top of engine. The belt will have to be loosened, power steering pump will have to be removed to get to sensor. Replace this sensor for reduced engine power. Invest in a code scanner, they are very handy to have. Also the oil pressure sensor could be bad that was replaced. Check your transmission fluid and the level. Hope this helps.

I just wanted to ask some onewho might know, after all the issues with my esc error codes, the shop wants to charge me $2200 to replace a shifting solenoid, it's only shifting hard intermediate from 1st to 2, but I have changed the transmission fluid, could this be the problem. I can't spend $2200 unless I know that's the only way. Help please
