Pop trunk without key

Has anyone noticed that you can pop the trunk with the button on the door without even having the key in the ignition. I wish there was a way to lock the trunk so it was more secure. Any ideas? I have a 2008 G6 V6.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Let me clarify this...ummm do you accidentally press that button? - because I am not sure where the question is going....

Is it because you leave your doors unlocked? and afraid that anything in your trunk can get stolen? Because if you don't lock your doors they can get to the trunk anyway if they really want to.

If you could explain a bit more why you are worried about securing your trunk?
you can unplug it....
When my car was recently stolen I had some valuable stuff stored in the trunk that the thief did not get. Had I had a subwoofer and amp in there, it would have also been safe.

Should a hoodrat successfully steal or break into a G6 they need only press the trunk release button and they are now able to steal your sub and amp or anything else kept in the trunk with much less effort than hammering a screwdriver into the lock.
I don't leave my doors unlocked. When ever I get out of the car I always put my laptop and other valuables in the trunk. I just want it to be harder for a thief than getting in the door and pressing the trunk button.
if he is gonna go through the trouble of unplugging it why not unplugg and then re-route it to a ignition hot then you will have to have the key open to unlock your trunk.:)
I think I might end up powering it from the ignition hot. Just wish GM had thought of that. They were smart and put the seat release in the trunk. At least that part is secure.

I was wondering about that as this thread has progressed. I hadn't really tried mine even though I've had my car for a couple of years. I've been afraid to start using that bc I became too frivilous w/ it on my old Cavalier. I even used it as a bed once. fun times.
