i just purchased a kenwood ddx371 touchscreen double din for my 2006 pontiac g6. my question is on the radio harness i purchased the positive red wire for the unit is comes separate. Now how do i go about wiring it so that the unit can turn on when the key is on and it turns off when the key is off.

i currently have it wired to the radio fuse on the fusebox underneath the radio.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I downloaded the manual. On page 55 is this hookup diagram (attached). It shows tying the red wire to the accessory (ie, switched) output on the ignition switch. The yellow wire is tied to battery (via a fuse). Hooked up this way, any time the key is in ON or ACC, the radio should come on.

You already have the yellow wire connected to the radio fuse, right?

The red wire is tougher because the radios no longer use a switched power input. Instead, they rely on the serial data bus to say when the key is on. So you'll need to get under the dash and dig out the brown wire from the ignition switch and connect it to the red radio wire. I highly recommend putting a fuse there.
