Do you REALLY need the installation kit to hook up an aftermarket stereo? I got the thing that allows you to put one in but for the wire connections. I can't see paying $100 just for that. Is there a way around it?

Are you talking about the Metra 99-3303?? If so, Yes you can go without that setup, but you will lose the DIC. Thats the Information center where all the gas, oil life data is. You can just buy a $20 spacer to fit a single or double din.

Sorry I was unclear. I already bought the $20 kit to put a single din radio in. But I have never put an aftermarket radio in a car before and the wires from the G6 dont match the radios. So is there a conversion kit that is needed or can i cut and splice/solder some wires? I saw there is a thing on crutch field you can buy for $100 but that seems steep. Ill link it at the bottom. Sorry Im just a noob at this. Its probably some easy answer or something lol
