New to the forum, sorry if this is in wrong area. Anybody out there know how extensive it is to replace the rear main seal in an 05 G6 GT 3.5L? I have a pretty bad leak, 99.9% sure thats where its comin from. Not looking for the walkthrough by any means, I realize I need to have it done somewhere, just wanna know what to anticipate. do you have to remove the tranny and the cradle? any help would be appreciated

I have an 07 G6 and I have been told by my dealer that I have this problem, the issue is he wants to charge me over $1100 for what he says is the 8.8 hours needed to repair the rear main seal. This sounds fishy to me can anyone shed light on this issue i.e. how long this repair should take, for a certified dealer, as a diy (I believe that is what original poster wanted to know).

to replace the main seal the engine or transmission will need to be removed. so it is def going to take some time as to how much I'm not sure. The times the computer quotes sometimes give a little over and sometimes they don't give you enough time to barely get the job done.

I have a 07 gt convertible and had my rear main done about 3 weeks ago. Extended warranty payed 600$ for mine. That was all labor as part was only about 35-40$.
