i've already started an arbitration process with gm and the bbb. during that time my 05 G6 has been at the dealership for its fourth steering visit. i got a call from the dealer saying it would be ready on tuesday. the gm rep at the business resource center handling my bbb complaint said "there needn't be any reason to feel uncomfortable driving the automobile."

consensus anyone?

history:

mar 06 - first lock up; they replaced motor and controller assembly (essentially the steering system's power source) time in shop: two days

may 06 - second lock up; could not find any current faults. no repair. time in shop: one day

august 06 - third lock up; entire steering system replaced. time in shop: five weeks (i ish you not.)

sep 06 - fourth lock up; six whole days after receipt of "fixed" car. they're replacing a module. a module for what i do not know. time in shop: 8 days (estimate)

if it is in the shop under warranty 3 times for the same problem i think they have to buy it back under the lemon law don't they? it's something to look into. and seeing as it has already locked up 4 times i would have told the GM rep to switch cars with you since he is so confident in it.

the car was bought used and unfortunately the PA lemon law only makes distinctions for new car purchases.
