I have a 2007 G6 GT with 29000 miles on it. I bought it used and it seems that after driving for a while or when I start the car up cold the shifter really sticks when moving to and from the drive and manual shift mode. What's up?

could be spilled coffee or some coke or smth
I guess it could be something as simple as that but i'm not so sure since the car only does it bout 70 percent of the time but not every time:confused:

yea i brought it to pontiac and told them all 11 problems that i was having(non of them major) and asked them about it and the dude just stared at me and said "next problem" but i had to cancel my appointment. so yea the shifer plastic that it moves through looks kinda dirty but when i eventually bring it in maybe they'll actually do something! What a concept!

If i am correct I think the shifter is all electronic. Its because something has been poured in the shifter module. I would take it to a dealer. its a cheap fix. I had a short in mine.
Yea I got it fixed a while ago when I was bringing the car in for a massive servicing. They said there was soda something spilled in there and they orderd a chemical cleaner that they cleaned it with once the took apart the center console.

maykevin5: "mine is doing the same thing. when it get around 25 or 20 degrees, I think there is water in the linkage and when it freezes it gets stiff. but the heat from the motor warms it up and its loose again.. my theory.."

I think you might have something there cause while while the sticking is gone, except for the occasional squeak, on cold mornings the transmission still feels like it is sticking until the car warms up. Either that or they didnt get all the coke out. Whatever, I think I can deal with these minor problems in a car that handles and works as well as it does :D

i know its not electronic because you can see the cable attached to the tranny that runs through the firewall. Although the manual slap shift is electronic. If the shifter moves free in manual drive + - like mine does, but not going from D to R or P. That means every time you move from P to D you use the shift cable to the tranny. Just feels like its got glue in the cable when its cold untill it warms up.
