Hey guys,
So i've been working on this G6 for a few weeks now and its driving me insane. I think I may have POTENTIALLY found a major breakthrough in it. A little history on what the issues have been:
Replaced motor with a salvage 3.5L out of an 08 Impala (Using the G6 Harness), after completion, the car ran and drove. Went to go start it after letting it sit, no crank/no start. Tried a security relearn, no luck. Starter tested okay, no power to trigger wire. When starter relay is jumped, motor cranks (still no start). Error appeared on dash, replaced the PCM and had it programmed. Still unable to do a key relearn. Was able to pull codes at this point (still had error on dash), can't communicate with TCM. Cleaned up grounds, no luck. Replaced fuse box (salvage) and fuses/relays, no luck. Replaced ignition switch, no luck. Towed car to dealer, they refuse to look at it essentially. (Gave me the run around) Towed back home, for ****s and giggles, applied a temporary ground from negative battery terminal to TCM case (read about it on a sliverado forum), error went away on dash. I am charging the battery and will try more tonight to see if it will do a relearn.
My question is, will a bad TCM cause a no crank condition? From what I understand, the ignition switch sends signals to the PCM, TCM, and BCM (BCM was tested), and then goes to the Range Sensor, Crank/Run Relay, and so on.
Any insight would be appreciated. I'll update as I go. I ordered a new (reman) TCM that is programmed this afternoon and should have it in a few days ($60).
