Temp sensor maybe?
Temperature gauge locked on zero-2006
Car seems to run well otherwise; heater works fine.
Temp gauge jumps to top on startup, and falls to zero, where it remains.

If your temp gauge is locked on zero then that means it's unplugged. If it reads instantly hot then that means there is a short.
