I kinda missed the "intro" threads, so I inadvertantly broke the code by posting BEFORE introducing myself. I shall make up for that now!

My name is Mike, and I have a brand-spankin new 06 G6 GT coupe coming my way. Picking it up tomorrow or Saturday morning.

I currently own an 03 Vibe, but after it started being whiny, and having a lot of problems once I passed the 60,000 mile mark, I decided maybe I should seize the moment and get out of it while I still can get something for it. I hate to say it, but the Toyota powertrain fell far short of my expectations. GM needs to kick the Toyota outta that car and get some TRUE GM componentry in there.

Aaaaaaanyway, I did a lot of modding on the Vibe, but I'm not likely to do a whole lot with this one. After all, the Vibe is VERY simplistic -- technologically anyway -- whereas the G6 is anything but. I do have a few planned upgrades...hoping to do some window tinting, custom graphics, HID retrofitting (had them on my Vibe and LOVED them!), but not much else on the plate at the moment.

So back to the car...

Here are the specs of the car I'm getting:

2006 PONTIAC G6 GT COUPE

Exterior: Electric Blue Metallic
Interior: Ebony, Impression Cloth

Options:
MX0 - 4 speed Automatic Transmission w/ Manual Shift Capabilities
AP3 - Keyless Entry w/ Remote Start
CF5 - Power Moon Roof
D49 - Power Mirrors
JF4 - Adjustable Power Pedals
JL9 - Front/Rear Disc Brakes w/ ABS
NW9 - Electronic Traction Control
PFE - 17x7 ChromeTech wheels
QWN - All-season 225/50/17 tires (likely to suck)
U2K - Digital Audio System / XM
U85 - 8 speaker premium audio system w/ outboard amplifer
UC6 - in-dash 6 disc changer
UE1 - OnStar

It had everything I wanted except for side airbags. I couldn't find one anywhere with side airbags, and I can't wait for one to get built (a lot of stuff on the Vibe needs replacing and won't wait 8 or more weeks without breaking down) so I settled without them.

I tend to be a pic whore, so you can be assured when the car gets here, I'm ALL OVER that!

EDIT: Did I neglect to mention that my parents have an 05 G6 GT sedan in stealth gray metallic already? We've become a multi-G6 family! :D

Dealer called me today. Wasn't supposed to get my car until Saturday morning, but they pushed me up so I can get it tomorrow afternoon. CAN'T WAIT!!! My dad already saw it, he stopped by the dealer to sign some papers for it (he's cosigning), said it was GORGEOUS! Only sucky thing is the odo already has 114 miles on it. :( They had to drive it 90 miles up from a dealer in south Jersey. Was the ONLY electric blue coupe with all the features I wanted in the entire tri state area.

Pictures TOMORROW! :)

After a LONG wait, I finally have pictures to share. Yes, they're almost all of the passenger side...but hey, can you blame me? Once I get her fixed up (she's in the shop now), we'll get pictures at all angles. :)

Update on the repairs:

The panel finally arrived last Thursday. They had originally told me prior to that it would be only a few days for completion once the panel came in. Well. We called for an update on Tuesday. They don't think they can finish before christmas. Not sure why, but part of it has to do with the fact they started 2 other cars when the got sick of waiting for GM to get me a part. So now they have 3 going simultaneously. By the time I get the car back, I'll be looking at almost 2 months.

This is unreal.

i understand what you AND your shop are going through. HOWEVER, since you have been waiting for MONTHS now, i would think that if they had any sense at all, your car would become a PRIORITY to be finished as soon as possible, AHEAD of any of those other vehicles. is your car at the dealership body shop? if so, maybe its time you spoke to the General Manager. just let him/her know that you fullly understand that GM took their sweet time to get them the part, but that you have been very patient and shouldn't have to wait for their shop to finish the other cars before you get yours back. hey, its only fair!!!!

good luck!
