thinking about a used g6 gxp...

hey everybody,

im on the market to purchase a new car and ive been looking at a few different 2009 g6 gxp's. each of them has roughly 30,000 miles and they are ranging in prices of 16-18k.

my dilemma is that i can purchase a regular g6 v6 for the same price (16-18k) with considerably less miles. (10-15k)

how have these g6 gxp's been known to handle after they get a few miles on them? i understand that with the gxp your getting a lot more car for the money, i just want to make sure that the better deal isnt the regular g6 gt with less miles.

thanks for the help

danny

in case ur wondering, heres the links to two of the cars im debating between.

if you go with the gxp. i would get the silver one.
the only mod i would do to the exterior is paint the calipers red and tint.

I thought it was gold (ish). I like that one too.

yea im leaning towards the silver basically cuz it seems like a better deal plus it has the sunroof, but i dont get why they have different speedo's...seems kinda weird
i'm guessing the speedo is custom. it doesn't say G6 on it like the other one. looks cool as hell to bad the silver gxp doesn't have the same look.
ehh i dunno, a few other 2009 gxp's i looked at also have the same speedo as the red one i linked in my OP.

heres two other ones i found, the red one is fully loaded and also has the same speedo as the other red one i linked. maybe its the year. might be a different between the regular 2009 and 2009.5 models

maybe its an option to the gxp. if you like the speedo in the red car. maybe you can talk to the dealership about changing the speedo in the silver one. i'm sure they could do on the cheap.

not a bad idea. lookin at the pictures closer and just comparing the whole dashboard/center console they look different. maybe the silver one is listed wrong and its not actually an 09 and its an 08 cuz they even have different radios
somebody brought this up before....if i remember correctly they changed the style for the 09 but for some reason they went back to the original style for the 09.5. im sure someone with an 09 would know. id do the silver too.

Agreed
The silver one is a 09...you can tell by the speedo and the radio(same as 05-08).....the red one is a 09.5....again from the radio and speedo. Where it gets strange is the few 2010s that were made have the 09 speedo and the 09.5 radio
The first linked car (GTP) is a 2009. The other three cars are 2009.5. I could tell this by the radios. The downside of the newer models is that they are something of an orphan; what I mean by this is that the parts interchangability (and aftermarket support) is not going to work very well with the older models. In the future you'd pay more for your repairs and they'd likely take longer.

That said, I wish that I had the 2009.5 as I like the stereo, steering wheel, and climate controls better, plus I like the nice, bright, 2-line Driver's Information Center on the dash. None of those parts interchange to the older models. Oh, and you have the potential to upgrade the 2009.5 to use Bluetooth if you're willing to due a little work yourself (swap the OnStar module).

Down to models, the GXP will blow the G6 GT (and many other cars) off the road. If you want to go vroooooom around town it's the one to buy. The prices are pretty decent considering the same cars were selling for twice that amount this time last year. Had I more time (I had to replace a stolen car and was going out of the country the next day) I'd have searched out and haggled a good deal on a 2009.5 GXP.

so the general consensus is that:

2009 gxp's with 30,000 miles on it for roughly $17-18k > 2010 g6 gt with 15,000 miles on it for $17-18k?

i just wanna make sure i dnt end up regretting buying a car with 30,000 miles on it when i could have had one with half the miles for the same price. the gxp is definately worth it over the gt?

GXP = VRRRRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!
GT = Quick but not overly fast.

They were all rentals, which I figured they were based on the mileage prior to checking the CarFax. If you're really concerned, either negotiate the price down based on the rental history or see if they will throw in an extended warranty if you buy it at the posted price - though the certified used cars will come with a warranty longer than the original 36 month/36000 mile original warranty.

By the way, there's not a huge difference with the 15,000 mile disparity; the difference in the price of the GXP makes up for it pretty well.

Good luck!

Edit: I just looked at the CarFaxes again, one of the cars was from Texas and another from Florida, both places that tend not to need salt and other corrosives in the winter, in case that matters to you (it does to me).
