possibly a heat sheild??

Usually it’s a thin piece of metal that is between the exhaust and some kind of sensitive part (wires/ plastic). They make an awful sound when their screws are loose. Just look around with a little socket wrench and snug things up.

but the noise i heard i could have sworn it was coming from the front though but you're saying its back by the exhaust? maybe if you could narrow it down to an exact spot i'll go home tonight and break out the sockets
it would actually be around the area of the flex pipe on the exhaust.
so exactly where? haha sorry

Part 11 is what you are looking for. Heat shield should be around there if im not mistaken
great alright i'll have to check it out tonight
If it ends up not being the heat shield then it could possibly be the serpentine belt tensioner. I had a radddle type noise come from it when i accelerated. It would make the noise between 2500-3000 rpm. My tensioner was located under the alternator. just needed to be tightened up
Can anyone out there help me,after returning from a weekend trip to a wedding, driving approx 2000 kilometers I have been noticing a whistling noise upon acceleration. The heavier I push it the longer the whistle.I have checked out my CRAB intake not coming from there. It sounds like under the car, very similar to the sound it made when it was 1 year old(warranty covered it),but not sure about now with 80,000 Kliks.Problem then was exhaust.
i wouldnt think its anything with the exhaust bc the whistling only on acceleration means air leak being sucked in.
Could be an exhaust leak.
I went thru the CRAB CAI clamp by clamp ,then double checked again,no noise(whistling)from them under hood, sounds like under the car when you rev engine with the drivers door open.Maybe my car is telling me it wants a better exhaust system lol.Very annoying with the top down.I may have to bite the bullet and go to the stealership to at least get it diagnosed, watch them blame the CRABs and take my money.I am convinced its exhaust related anyway.
Just tell them that its not the problem and that you already checked it.
Ya I know the mechanic who is going to check it so I hope he will be cool with the Crabs
Mine are haha they were curious cause they havent seen many 6s with an intake.
Noise on acceleration

My G6 made a whistling noise during acceleration. I took it to the Pontiac dealer and they replaced the muffler and exhaust assembly at no cost to me. The work order said "Product support and customer satisfaction". I think that means they acknowledge that there is a manufacturer flaw, but have not done a public recall because they have nothing go gain with Pontiac being a dead product. However, if a Pontiac owner complains, GM is ethical enough to fix it free.
