Mine ticks too, it's a pain in the ass. I think the only fix is to replace the blower motor. Hopefully if you're under warranty they will replace, otherwise you can replace it yourself, or turn up the radio. :p

so the only way to fix is to replace the blower??? are you kidding me. car is a 2005 gt with 50,000 miles on it. when you turn the fan on to defrost or heater it ticks on speeds one and two. i can't believe the blower would need replaced. if this is true how much of a job is that???

How about blower motor resistor?

A how-to replace is over here. Their site is slow as sh** right now. Pooners wrote it up so maybe he would be so kind to put it in our how-to section as well. Either way it's the blower motor.

I thankfully bought an extended warranty and will be getting this fixed soon.

Took mine to a dealership and had them fix it. It was covered under my extended warranty but the job is not all that difficult and the parts cost less than a hundred bucks. There is definitely a problem with the motors they used in the G6. The replacement motor is much quieter and does not tick at all.

The dealership must have checked over the rest of the car when they had it in because they noticed a small oil leak on the side of the engine that they found out was an intake manifold gasket leaking. The warranty covered this so I had them do it too under the same deductible. The warranty basically just paid for itself. Now the only other really annoying noise is the whistle from the panoramic sunroof.

I had the blower replaced with less than 55000 miles on the car. I don't think that something like that should wear out that fast, the Intake Manifold gasket Definitely should not have been worn out at that time but from everything I've read that is a fairly common problem on GM vehicles and the replacements don't fail anywhere near as quickly if they fail at all.

So overall I have to give Kudos to the dealership for fixing the problem quickly and finding another one before it turned into a blown engine!

BTW I had the work done at Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Frederick Maryland.

The job would be easier had they included an access panel but I guess that would have added a nickle to the production costs.

The oem blower & the installation ring are separate parts. Around $80 total at retail, IIRC. Never tried the aftermarket versions.
