To Buy an '09 or not to buy...

I've been looking at purchasing an '09 G6 and am close to saying yes, but wondered if any of you could give me some advice. Am looking at a new Midnight Blue w/Taupe leather. Lists for $27,125 and includes the Sun & Sound package and the Premium package. With the $6500 off plus I assume his actual cost on it (so he says and it seems close) I can get it for $19,085. I have an '07 Chevy HHR Premere Edition which he has offered me on the phone, sight unseen $7500. I wrote a note saying if I could get $10k for it, I think I'd do it. I also got a note from GM today that they are upping my GM card bucks to 2 grand. So, I'd trade for $7K. Good deal?

Next, I am used to having fog lights and remote start on my HHR and don't know for sure if they're on this car. Anyone know where they are listed as options? Standard on the GT hopefully?

Are you guys happy with your cars? I have really mixed emotions on this, as I really like my HHR, but with 45k on it, value will drop quickly. I can't get 10 grand off on a car very often. Decisions, decisions, can you shed some light for me?:)

I would not get an HHR that is not an ss, with that being said go for what everis cheaper but i HHR don't do good on resale due mainly to the fact that the people that want them are the ones that sold them.
My understanding is that the mega deal with the Pontiacs is that they title them as fleet cars then sell them as used, meaning you can't get the GM Card money you've earned in addition. Definitely clarify that with your dealer :deal:. Plus you're going to take a gonzo depreciation hit on this bad boy as well, even as good a deal as it is.

As far as the cars themselves, I'm very happy with mine so far, especially the fog lights and remote start. OK maybe those aren't things I went out of my way to get, but my GT does have them :)
Maybe I wasn't clear on this - I already own an HHR and am very happy with it. I plan to trade it in on the G6, but they have offered me $7500. If they move it up to $10000 I might do the deal.
Am going to take a look at the G6 this morning. Unless I fall in love, I'm temped to skip doing this, as I'll be financing a total of $15000 when you roll in the balance on my HHR. If I continue to just make another year of payments on the HHR, my feeling is that I could find a 2009 a year from now with the same options, with 20000 miles on the car for about $12000. I'm really nervous about the depreciation hit on the G6 and I don't want to be upside down any more than I have to.

UPDATE: GM this morning just reduced the incentives from $6500 down to $5000 on all Pontiacs. They upped GM Card dollars instead. Guess it isn't going to happen.
you missed a hella deal. I paid allot more than that for mine new back in 05.

Why couldnt Obama be in office back then so the ecomony woulda sucked sooner and I coulda gotten a deal. lol

Don't worry we'll all be paying for the clunker deal/auto bailout soon enough anyways....
Hello all, brand new here.

I just bought a 2009 G6 3.9l V6 convertible last week with pretty much every option available. The sticker was ~$36,000, I actually paid over $11,000 less with rebates which included the increase on the rebate on my GM card to slightly more then $3000.

So total I got $3000 off sticker, $3000 GM card rebate, and $5000 factory rebate & owner loyalty. And $2200 for the trade on my 2002 Grand Am GT1.

So far I like the car except for the MPG but it's not that much less then what I was driving. One thing I would suggest, never buy a convertible when it's 4 degrees F though (even though with the hard top I'd never know it was one).
Haha true dat about the weather not being the slightest factor with teh hardtop :D And that's a really great deal you got - congrats  What color?
White Diamond T/Light Taupe -- so far a fun car just dyeing to put some wax on it though. I work on the inside this weekend (Leather, Carpet, and Glass) but would love to take care of the rims and give it a good polish, probably need to wait until May.

Your getting hosed. They want to give you below wholsale for your HHR, retail on that should be 12k or so. I looked up the 09 G6, and a GTP sedan is low 20k retail

So they want to sell you a G6 above retail and give you below wholesale for your HHR.

My advice...you better find another dealer.

You should get 10K for your trade and buy the G6 for 18K or close to those number.
Yep. The HHR would sell for $12900 to $13900 on the lot. $10000 was my number. Guess I hold on to it.
I love my G6. I'd say it's worth the buy.
I'd hang onto the HRR for now as well. You'll be able to get low mileage G6's still under warranty in a couple years, for the price of your HHR now.

I'm not sure about US dealers, but the GM Card in Canada only allows so many GM dollars down toward a new vehicle. The maximum on a midsize, in this case the G6, is $1500. Back when I owned my service station until the time I closed it I had hundreds of thousands of travel points, etc, and decided to get a GM card in the hope of getting a new vehicle for free, lol. Man did I forget to read the fine print on that one. After accumulating close to $24000 on the card that I could put toward a vehicle, I find out that the redemption allowance is very minimal: http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/services/gm-card/apply/vehicle-type

I bought my G6 GT for under $27K Canadian back in 2006, with 11 miles on it. Sticker with tax was close to $37K. I didn't trade anything in. 13% sales tax alone doesn't help in Ontario, but the rebates and such made it more bearable to purchase. A GXP would easily top $44K fully loaded with taxes, admin and license fees included. Insane price for a midsize.
