use the manual mode and flick it into second gear when pulling out from a stop. Here in calgary we get all sorts of shitty weather (and my 06 g6 gt still has allseasons on it because of the new laws in ontario that make winter tires MANDATORY there). But basically, the ratios for second gear provide less torque than first, so doing a second gear start means less likelihood of that beautiful TCS light coming on. That being said, going through turns, if you're in the same situation I'm in, you'll find yourself fishtailing a little.
If you're just looking to throw rocks and look like you've got more power... that little button with the traction control symbol with a line through it... and manual mode, first gear. (I got pulled over for injuring a pedestrian with it... I'm a bad person). Aside from that... just keep your eyes on the road and your foot through the floor.
Ontario doesn't have a mandatory law for snow tires??? I live here and to top if off I'm a police officer, that's not a law... lol..

*edit* Also, you've successfully detracted from the original poster's question and turned this thread into a flame war. I know FWD. I know drifting. I know what takes skill, what doesn't. And I know that for the average joe, my comment was dead on. Now, since you're new, I'll be nice, and let you know that we're a calm, peace loving bunch, and that your comments ,specifically those provoking myself, are not appreciated, and to immediately cease and desist (in layman's terms: Pipe down, in n00b terms: stfu). We're here for questions, comments, and ideas about the G6, and I know for a fact that you have many of them. If you want to go off about how great your escort was, etc. go to the Gen. Disc. branch of the forum.
No offense bud, but you're 19 years old... I don't think you know too much.. lol.. apart from that you're right, we gotta keep it to the point of topic, but please... don't gloat... it's irritating..

I'm not gloating in any sense. I'm stating, and presenting my case that yes, drifting a front wheel drive vehicle IS possible, and that it does involve more skill than drifting a rear wheel drive.
I was furthermore pointing out the fact that we're talking about G6s. How many people here have an LSD on their '6?

And on the subject of "irritating".... playing the "age" card, Paul.
I've got PLENTY of experience and know-how when it comes to driving.
I've also got the violation tickets to prove it, if you'd really like to look them up.
So, no more taking the condescending tone with younger people, just because of their age. O.K., Officer?
I am a police officer, so if you really want.. I will look it up.. but there is no sense now is there? especially if you have "violations" LMAO!.. gloating again.. pretty sad.. you done crying? stick to topic please.. no more on how "great" you are at driving..
