Okay, so here's the deal...I have an issue with my transmission and would like some advice or history, ANY help is appreciated.

Car: 2006, G6. 2.4. automatic. !02k miles.
Transmission: Size: MN5, Ratio:3.91. other codes (FX2) (BCT 6EWJ)

Bought the car 8 months ago, and right off the lot taking it to get gas it was shifting hard between gears. (gas light was on) stopped and filled up..Problem stopped (I assumed it picked up a drug from being so low on gas). 4 months down the road one day with a half a tank of gas I pull out and have to get on the gas because a fellow driver was exceeding the speed limit :) Started shifting hard between gear. Every time I would shut the car off it would stop. Buddy at the dealership said it was more than likely a shift solenoid going bad, said it would just shift harder and not stop the worse it got. So I was not worried. Well, last week I was heading home from work and the car was not acting up in the least bit. Stopped at a red light and when I went to go (light turned green) the engine just rev'ed up. Now only reverse works. neutral will engage and the car will roll, and it will go into drive,2nd, and low, but just rev up. Sorry for the long post, I did not want to leave anything out.
I have heard some news on a TSB for the wiring harness for the transmission. Something about a wire being ran through a metal clip and grounding out? But please, would love for it to be something easier as a new tranny is priced at 2 gran thru dealer, and cheapest I can find in my area is 1500 low miles.

PLEASE assist me!!

Oh, 2 weeks prior to the tranny problem, girlfriend busted oil pan, it was replaced and blah blah, so could any oil had shot up and shorted something? such as a sensor. thank you all in advance for your help. Have a great day and God bless you all! :)

Not dropped the pan yet and not checked for DTC's, no way at the moment. Is it cheaper to rebuild or just look for a good low mile tranny? It will still store and throw DTC's if no check light is on, correct?

Yes. The tranny control module can generate a number of (non-emissions related Type C) DTC's that will not illuminate the CEL (the CEL is part of the OBD2 emissions control system & is not a general vehicle problem indicator). Neither will they illuminate the "Service Vehicle Soon" message on the DIC or separate indicator lamp (whichever applies to the specific vehicle).

Autozone cannot read these codes. Professional mechanics & dealers have the capability or for a couple hundred bucks you can get a basic software-based scan tool for a laptop which can read them.

I assume you are referring to the engine oil pan. Without seeing the actual extent of the damage, I couldn't venture an opinion as to if that was cause & effect. It is possible. Get the tranny codes read.

Alright man. Will have to wait until payday (this coming Friday). Local O'reilys loans a machine that can pull em off for a $200 deposit. I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks again for all of the replies and assistance, wouldn't know what to do if there wasn't good people still in the world.

I had a similar issue and heres what fixed my problem. For the longest time it NEVER pulled up a code and finally did one day. What is was is the intake cam sensor on the engine believe it or not. This part is not at an autoparts store. You must order online. Hope this helps. Took me forever (1 year of owning it) to finally figure it out. Other things done were tranny harness, oil flush, shifing selenoids replaced and never fixed it. another way to tell if it is that is when you first start accelerating it may be a little sluggish. Its not that easy to tell unless you really pay attention to it. It will be more sluggish if its just started up and hasnt gotten to full heat. Every engine is a little sluggish when not totally warm however you will be able to tell.
Hope this helps.

Hey guys, appreciate the feedback and advice. Greenman, sorry I did not read your post before I gave the machine back, unfortunately it was not able to pull any codes. I am probably going to have to have it put on a machine. And directed at Matthew, I appreciate the feedback but the trans will not pull at all in any forward gear. Also, if it was the intake cam sensor, would it throw a dummy light, as there are no lights illuminated on my dash.

Forget about the camshaft position sensors.

Loss of drive could be a torque convertor or tranny issue. Are you sure there wasn't more underside damage in that accident?

I'd avoid a dealer & take it to a tranny specialist.

I checked the undercarriage several times after the accident and nothing seemed to be damaged, just the corner of the oil pan was cracked, it must have caught the blacktop at the right time. Trans pan cover or nothing of that sort even has a dent or scratch in it. I was planning on having it diagnosed at the dealer and then repaired elsewhere. There are not many good tranny experts in my area. Called one and asked how much a re-build would be on one and he said (quote ) "Well, im not sure, we dont usually rebuild em...we just usually replace the whole thing if theres a problem with it." so yeah :/

Finally have an answer

Hey everyone, just wanted to let everyone know the outcome of this for future information and everything. Turns out there was internal breakdown the entire time. It was an internal sprog for the forward clutch assembly. This just randomly quit on me without warning, so this is something to watch out for. Hope this final reply on this issue is helpful. Thanks all, later.

A lot of people do not return to tell the solution or outcome, just figured i'd let someone know what it was. Best of luck to everyone :)
