You all seem to be helping with my odometor jumping, but my speedometor-well I found someone years ago on this site that had that problem and that bullitin was his fix.

I have an appointment with the dealer next week, but before I go I want to know is this bullitin still in effect for my car?

How can I find out?

Anyone know more on this bullitin????

Thanks to all of you for the advice and help on the other post and in advance for this one!

I just purchase a 2005 Pontiac G6 with 32000KM (19000 Mile) and I did not notice these 2 problems when I test-drove it. There seem to be something ticking in the Dash, seem like every time I accelerate I hear this ticking noise in the front dash, sounds like an electrical ticking, also maybe related, the other problem is my speedometer is ticking as it goes up by 5kms at a time. Has anyone else had these problems? Apart from these 2 little problems (I hope) I love my new car! :)

i'm pretty sure it's your heater ... i have the same noise ... try to turn the heater off and see if the noise goes away

Hi, I finaly go more information on the ticking noise in the dash, ( no thanks to the dealer) I found this info on "GM inside news" It turns out that this problems has a TSB # (technical service bulletin)for this problem: 04-08-59-003A. It turns out it's not a big problem just a bit annoying. This is the fix :

Front of Dash Clicking, Ticking or Cracking Noise During Warm Up in Cold Weather (Install Squeak Reduction Tape) #04-08-59-003A - (Apr 20, 2005)
Front of Dash Clicking, Ticking or Cracking Noise During Warm Up in Cold Weather (Install Squeak Reduction Tape)
2005 Pontiac G6

This bulletin is being revised to change the description of the condition. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-08-59-003 (Section 8-Body and Accessories).

Condition
Some customers may comment that in cold weather , especially as the front windshield defroster duct air warms up the vehicle, they hear a clicking, ticking, or cracking type noise from the front of dash.

Cause
Thermal expansion/contraction may cause this noise. The expansion may be between the dash carrier and the clips attached to the trim panel (defroster grille cover) or the clip to the trim panel (defroster grille cover).

Correction
Remove the windshield side upper garnish molding by unsnapping the plastic cover at the top. Remove the screw and pull inward to release the center retaining clip on the molding.
Remove the trim panel (defroster grille) following SI Document ID #1470558. The drawing shows 10 clips. The G6 has 8.
Remove the retaining clips (8) from the trim panel and apply 3M™ Squeak Reduction Tape to the towers of the panel and reinstall the clips.
Apply 3M™ Squeak Reduction Tape into the slots (8) in the IP.
Reinstall the trim panel.
Reinstall the windshield side upper garnish molding.
Parts Information
3M™ Squeak Reduction Tape, P/N 06356, can be purchased locally.

Warranty Information
For vehicles repaired under warranty, use:

Labor Operation
Description
Labor Time

C2368
Grille, Defroster Outlet
Use Published Labor Operation Time

I will be bringing it back to the dealer for the fix.

I did write a post "Help my speedometor has a mind of its own!"

Here's a copy of that post for reference.....

My speedometor has a mind of its own! HELP

This past summer, I purchased a 2005 G6. It had extremely low kms. and now i know why. In cold weather, the speedometor sits at 5kms and it shakes there. It takes 2-3 more re-starts before i can put this back to normal. Anyone out there have this problem or a solution to this.

I think the problem that goforit01-21-2008 that you posted is something different than what you have.

He had a rattle that was due to some insulation tape that was missing or something.

I have a similar problem with my Saturn SC2 with the speedometer and tach rapidl clicking and shaking. The problem with my Saturn is the instrument cluster itself. I have not repaired it but it is a common problem with Saturn. I just deal with it and drive until failure...lol

I do not know if your problem is the instrument cluster or not. Sounds the same though.

Well I took my car in to the dealer and as for the dash the bullitin above IS the fix. But apparantly it doesn't always work and it's not worth dishing out for. (More than one mechanic advised not bothering on this). As for my speedometor, It WAS my CLUSTER. It needs to be replaced. All the guages were going funny. Thank god I kept track of my milage!

Thanks again to all!
