Pontiac is bringing the latest additions to its G6 lineup to the Canadian International Auto Show - the G6 coupe and convertible.

The coupe features 2+2 seating with even more interior room thanks to an increased wheelbase of 112.3 inches. It comes standard with 17-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and four wheel disc brakes with an antilock braking system.

The G6 coupe will be available in two versions - the GT and GTP. The higher-powered GTPs come with a 3.9-litre V6 engine that produces 240-horsepower. It can be mated to either a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual.

The GT sedan has a 3.5L V-6 that produces 200-horsepower at 4800 rpm and 220 lb.-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm.

The seats are around 2-3 inches longer than those on competitor coupes, and are six inches longer than the G6 sedan's front doors. The doors were also built with counterweights to make them easier to open and close. The rear seats offer 35 inches of legroom. The Pontiac Grand Prix sedan, by comparison, offers 36.5 inches. The rear occupants even get

Setting itself apart from the sedan, the G6 coupe includes new wraparound taillamps and LED-lit Center High Mounted Stop Lamps (CHMSLs).

"Whether it's the coupe or convertible, these cars were designed to perform to the expectations of enthusiast drivers," said Bunnell. "They're great because they fit so many of us. Families living in the north can justify even the convertible - there's room and the top will keep out the elements."

The coupe has a four-wheel independent suspension (MacPherson struts in the front and a four-link design in the rear) and is tuned with a stiff, sporty suspension to reduce body roll around corners. There are 18-inch wheels available on the GTP coupe.

Other highlights of the coupe includes remote keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel and audio system with six-disc CD changer. Optional equipment includes leather heated seats, sunroof, OnStar and side and curtain airbags.

Nice article,

Actually there are a few features specific to GTP model which didn't make this list but they are also found on sedan GTP and this article was mainly coupe/convertible specific.

Oh, did you want me to mention them?? (LOL)

Automatic Climate Control (single zone)
Stabilitrak
New Steering wheel
Hydraulic Power Steering
18 inch tires (a few different types)

You can see most of this stuff if you look up coupe/convertible at Pontiac Web site and check out the Fueling Zone where they show info on upcoming vehicles

The sedan GTP will likely be first one available to purchase. No idea when they will be in dealer though.

3 spoke wheel will likely NOT be on these initial sedan GTPs but will show up later. Changing it would be difficult because you would have to change the airbag as well.

Does anyone know if the G6 GTP will have a Head-Up Display option like the Grand Prix GTP has?
I haven't heard of it mentioned anywhere, which doesn't mean it won't be equipped qith it but I doubt it will. If they had the backbone in the car to do it it would at least be an option on the current models I think.
